Tales from the Borderlands Is An Adventure Game Set After Borderlands 2

By Ishaan . May 5, 2014 . 2:01pm

Tales from the Borderlands is a new game set in the Borderlands universe, but it isn’t a first-person shooter. Instead, it’s an adventure game being developed by Telltale Games, and Gearbox Software released some new screenshots for it this morning.

Additionally, over at the PlayStation Blog, Tales from the Borderlands producer Adam Sarasohn confirmed that the game will be episodic, and that you’ll be able to purchase each episode individually. Loot that you grab in Tales will be available for use in “other areas of the Borderlands franchise”.

Tales from the Borderlands takes place after Borderlands 2 and will be released this Summer. Gearbox and Telltale haven’t announced just which platforms the game is in development for yet.

I hope they stick with the Texas-based voice cast. I love hearing the guys from Funimation in these games, especially Colleen Clinkenbeard.

They actually have a mix of LA and Texas VAs. Mind you a lot of the LA people are all ex Texas VAs lol

I can’t believe I never noticed, but I checked the list of characters on Wiki and know most of those names from Funimation dubbed anime…my god…

    Episodic?
    No buy!

Can’t say I really care about the Borderlands universe (fun games, but I’ve paid 0 attention to the story), but Telltale definitely has skyrocketed in terms of my endearment.
I’ll wait until the eventual disc release or digital sale— which I do with all of these games anyway. Save that moolah!

      story?

Personally, I’m far more interesed in Borderlands: the Pre-Sequel, playing from the villains perspective of the series. But Telltale does good work, I’m confident this could turn out well.

Enjoying every episode of the Wolf among Us and the Walking Dead season 2, any games from Telltales now is auto buy for me, seems like they’ve mastered the point & click adventure genre w/ great story telling.. Though I wish I had waited for the Season Pass sale, it was discounted so quickly even before all the eps are out. I would collect them on disc too like Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, and Walking Dead season 1.

I hope they improve their engine. Poker Night 2 on the PS3 was borderline unplayable and all of their games suffer from stuttering and framerate issues on nearly every plattform (Except the PC).

WAU and TWD season 2 are running much better now. So there is a good chance

I really hope we aren’t forced to play as a strongwomanwhodon’tneednoman. I don’t even know why they’re making a Borderlands game. To capitalise on the fanbase, I guess? Will most Borderlands fans even play a non-fps? I don’t know. I was actually really liking Wolf Among Us, but I’ve noticed that after Ep 1 it started to go downhill. TWD S2 started off slow, but I feel like it’s picked up pace quite well. I would rather TelllTale work on their GoT game, rather than Borderlands, but oh well.

Basically an effort to milk the series. Which is a shame, because while the games are good, I don’t think they’re worth all of this.

Ill take a HUGE wait and see approach, outside of Handsome Jack, I thought BL2s story was terrible and very poorly written.

Telltalegames does a great job with their games I may not like how the release them in episodes but when the game is done its a great play through.

  • Shady Shariest

This will likely be my first interactive story by TellTale…

Try the Demos for Walking Dead or Wolf Among us
      Great games :3

      • Shady Shariest

Don’t care about them. Don’t seem interesting enough.

        • XiaomuArisu

I see. Well I didnt know about WAU before I played it but still enjoyed it same with TWD. What exactly makes it uninteresting for you? Gameplay?

          • Shady Shariest

Kinda the theme of them mixed with gameplay. Walking Dead is zombies with seemingly important choices…Which are actually not that important.

The Wolf Among Us just doesn’t tick for them, for some odd reason…

Cause the one thing BL fans care so much about is the world right? And not the loot I guess? Seems like the worst possible spinoff for BL, because the story world and characters are all VERY secondary to the gameplay. If they assume the BL fans are all going to flock over to this, this will be in for a very unpleasant reality.

To me a lot of the appeal to Borderlands is the comedy, and Telltale could certainly capture that aspect.
