Bandai Namco have released shipment figures for some of their recent games as of March 31st, 2014, as part of their financial results.

To begin with, Namco shared that Dark Souls II has shipped 1.2 million copies across the U.S. and Europe on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. (From Software self-published the game in Japan, so Namco can’t provide Japanese sales figures.)

Meanwhile, God Eater 2 has shipped 700,000 copies between the PlayStation Vita and PSP in Japan, while JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle has shipped 550,000 copies in Japan. (The game was released in the West just last month.)

Bandai Namco also revealed that Disney Magical World on the Nintendo 3DS has shipped 500,000 copies in Japan. (The game was released in North America in April, and was published by Nintendo.)

Finally, coming to worldwide sales, Dragon Ball Z: Battle for Z has shipped 620,000 copies across Japan, the U.S. and Europe.

      Wow.

Those amazing GE2 sales and still no word of localization..

Guess it depends how badly the original did in the west, Most likely putting them off.

Maybe one of Bamco’s E3 surprises.

That’s because the online multiplay patch hasn’t been released yet. Western gamers play differently; if there’s no internet gameplay it’s going to get trashed in reviews and people aren’t going to buy it.

Once they’ve released the patch, and the inevitable dozen stabilisation and bugfix patches for it, then it’s worth complaining about lack of localisation. :P

Did Dark Souls II match/exceed sales from it’s predecessor?

    • AndyLC

no, Dark Souls 1 sold more so far. Demon’s Souls has sold almost as much on just the PS3 alone.

Keep in mind how long both other games have been out. I’m pretty sure Aristides was referring to early sales, not lifetime sales.

Dark Souls 2 is actually doing really well! While there are some hiccups in the game, it’s still a great experience overall. Can’t wait for more information about Project Beast.

While i did really like Dark Souls…..well…..it’s like Tales of Xillia, it’s a good game with a lot of hype to it and when you finally get it after all the waiting it may seem like a perfect game at first, but you’ll eventually notice that it’s….missing something….

I’m not gonna get into a big discussion about this though, I love both games greatly and am happy dark Souls 2 did well :)
