Green is the tomboy, and all is right in the world!

        Buttercup is in this game?

Mhmmm, delicious Mel Kishida art style.

    >The models looks really good. Also a glimpse at the “Beep”.

The character art works is pretty well done too. Though i notice a “sameface” frm Monster Monpiece since the same artist is working on this.

    • Cazar

Slightly off topic but do you know if any iM@S OFA scans from this issue have been posted? Edit: Never mind I found them.

  • ShadowJetX

Choppy frame rate and stiff animations AHOY!

    • Somebodyissilent

      And you know this how?

      • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

        it’s compile heart…come on.

        • s07195

And their first PS4 game too.

          • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

the architecture should make it easier for them to develop games on the PS4. If they mess then I say they have no hope.

          • Roger

            sad but true, lol

        • Somebodyissilent

Yea but there is a small chance they will change this time.

          • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

Sorry the fact that we are talking about Compile Heart makes this argument pretty pointless.

          • Somebodyissilent

Maybe but stranger things have happened.

          • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

Please that’s like saying EA next game won’t have DLC or micro-transaction. It’s inevitable

          • Somebodyissilent

            Lol true.

          • Brion Valkerion

            oh please

          • Somebodyissilent

            New hardware a fresh start.

    • DesmaX

      Don’t forget the dungeons rehash!

    • Cazar

In just about any other article a comment like this wouldn’t have flown.

    • MrTyrant

Funny will be to have those problems even in a Ps4

    • Shippoyasha

My hope is that they set aside enough budget for the PS4 jump to upgrade all their visual and animation work. Compile Heart has a way to go as a budget studio, but they have constantly been improving.

    • darke

it’s a youtube video so unfortunately you really can’t tell how choppy framerates will be from it.

My main complaint so far is really with the inconsistent texturing. Some of it looks PS3 era quality, and others PS4. Given how short a time they’ve had to come up with this, assuming they weren’t planning on jumping ship to PS4 before it suddenly sold really well (relatively speaking), it wouldn’t surprise me if this started as a PS3 game.

    • Arcliff7

Not to mention the same damn SFXs.

  • ivanchu77

Now i have a reason to get a PS4 , glad to see compile hearts is still doing their usual stuff on the next gen ;)

Of the 5 girls i like Aria the most.

  • Ric Vazquez

    Aaaaaaaaaah MOOOOOOOOEEEEEEE WAIFU!

  • time to buy a ps4~~ well not yet gonna save up so I can buy one in september and import this.

  • Sentsuizan_93

    Really digging Nene’s design~

  • otakumike

    Kyouka has my loves.

  • Roger

The character design in both Fairy Fencer F and this game pleases me. I liked Neptunia series, but some characters CPU forms -design were just too much appealing sometimes. (and I tend to hate that)

    • BillyMK

I still like the game for its sense of humor.

  • SaiyanJedi_Trunks

I love these designs. I am also so happy to see it in development for the PS4 :)

  • http://hanzoadam.tumblr.com/ Hanzoadam

I havent seen much But I know I want it

  • Renaldi Saputra

    and million damages

  • Earthjolly

I wish PS4 first jrpg was something magnificent, not a compile heart game :(

    • Federico Astica

Agree, the lack of JRPG on the PS4 sucks.

      • Kelohmello

The lack of GAMES on the PS4 sucks.

        • Federico Astica

Yeah, but there are some games yet to be released this year. Not one of those games is a JRPG, though.

    • DesmaX

Well, at least it’s not Enchanted Arms, heh

    • Cazar

Why hate on CH? How does them developing a game for PS4 stop anyone else from doing it? If anything give them some kudos for being more ballsy than the other JRPG developers that are afraid to jump ship yet.

      • darke

Pretty much this. I was expecting them to try a PS3/PS4 cross over port at this stage of the current generation. But deliberately targeting the PS4 is going to have it’s own advantages (such as not having to fuss around with the PS3′s complicated internals).

      • http://twitter.com/#!/Leafy_Cam Leafhopper

Well they didn’t say CH developing a game on the PS4 would stop others, from doing it, just that another company made something else before them. And he could not like CH type of games.

I know I am not the biggest fan of their games.

    • darke

If you’re thinking ‘big’ like Final Fantasy you’re a year too soon at least.

‘Big’ JP developers are even slower then big western development companies at jumping on new platforms, and they probably also didn’t expect the new generation to take off like it did so are left on the back foot like all the other big game companies.

  • Duo Maxwell

I guess I can’t say no to the PS4 anymore.

  • http://resettears.wordpress.com/ Reset Tears

Really don’t care about idol stuff much, but going to admit those are some really great character designs. The playing card motifs for their dresses is a nice touch, and the art style is very nice.

    • DanielGearSolid

Yea, Idol stuff, isn’t for me… But for those who enjoy it, hooray

  • s07195

If there only were some screens of the actual RPG part…
Idk how I feel about the designs, since I’ve probably been spoiled in the idol genre by Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls designs… in a way, it’s a bit generic.

    • DyLaN

Not sure have you seen it ady, but scans containing gameplay screenshot is posted above.

  • http://danierc-polloconpapas.tumblr.com/ Eduardo Rocha

    Aria is so cute <3

  • MrTyrant

The in-game graphics don’t look that bad….but somehow I don’t like the design. Probably the only here aside from the Idol stuff.

  • Chatdimension

Not the best thing to say but… I think Otoha, Kyouka, and to a slight degree Aria, look like they came from Puella Magi Madoka Magica…

  • http://twitter.com/puchixseda puchinri

The designs are cute; I’m kind of interested.

I will say, because of idols and the deck/suite theme, it makes me think of Fresh PreCure (and the slightly idol, slightly magical girl-based design too obvs).

    • Shippoyasha

LOVED Fresh Precure art. Never thought of it that way before.

      • http://twitter.com/puchixseda puchinri

That’s one of the things I enjoyed about that season, so it always sticks out to me when I see something even remotely similar.

  • leingod

Dunno how the game itself will play out, but already liking them girls designs.

  • Demeanor

My love goes to Nene. My ps4 is ready for this anytime :P

  • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

All of my hnnnnnnnnnng >_<, but the question is how will this play?

  • http://s932.photobucket.com/ usagi_san

So is Aria the joker then? A bit like that otome game from Complie Heart – Amnesia?

  • Jerry Hu
    • http://s932.photobucket.com/ usagi_san

Depending on how it does, I could see a anime adaptation. Premature thinking, I know.

    • Sentsuizan_93

That 2nd scan. For some reason, The screenshot showing the gameplay gives me a reminder of the Kiseki games (e.g. Ao no Kiseki, Sen no Kiseki, etc.) probably because of the Action bar in how you get bonuses depending on your turn. Interesting though. I want to see it in action before I go further.

  • Crazy_O

Well PS4 purchase validated and I’m serious. I don’t own any game for my PS4 atm and I bought in on day one (I thought Watch Dogs wouldn’t take that long…).

  • DyLaN

    Translation courtesy of xizro345:

    Story
This world is being eroded by the phenomenon called “beep”.

“beep”, a distorted exsistence that eats the souls of the people.
Every attack being ineffective on them, the “beep” have multiplied and now cover the entire world, and the humanity, reduced to a few of tens of thousand people, has locked itself in small towns.

Only the “Song Maidens” [note, the kanji describing is read as "song" but the kanji (詠) is used in the word "poem" and "poem composition] have the power to oppose the “beep”.
The Song Maidens are humans who possess a special power, few and far between generations.

These girls, with the power of singing and dancing can annihilate the “beep”, and through their power, they protect mankind and keep on giving hope and dreams

    Otoha (CV: Riho Iida)
” Eeeh, in that case you could keep me company during another singing practice”

A new Song Maiden who wants to learn the job of the Song Maidens, to keep on giving hope and dreams to the people. She’s naturally proactive and hard working [as in putting all her effort in doing things], and while she improves every day, she still ends up clumsily failing. She is positive like the sun, a girl that transmits energy naturally to the people around her.

That all for now. So its more or less Symphogear after all. (I hope I can finish S1/2 be4 S3 airs lol)

    • Sentsuizan_93

So Galapagos RPG’s answer to Symphogear, eh? I can dig this~

  • FetusZero

Is it just me or.. something I noticed with Japanese games.. they tease the game.. a couple of weeks later at best we have a date.. and they often make that date.

While American games they tease the game.. 1 or 2 years later they announce a date.. and usually they delay that date.

Looking forward to seeing CH’s jump towards PS4.

    • darke

In addition, the release date is usually only a few months out from the first announcement. It feels like they’ve got a much better grasp on development and marketing tempo then most western developers.

  • David

So…am I the only one who thought it’s pretty much a PreCure RPG?

    • darke

Or Sailor Moon; or Madoka. The only PreCure I watched was the original since it was practice for my Japanese skill rather then actual interest in the series, and it only had a pair of leads; no idea about the sequel series. :)

  • tturtlejosh

The question is what are the chances on this getting localized?

    • darke

Either ‘high’ because one of the translation companies think it would be a good lead title since it’d be almost a guaranteed purchase for the JRPG fans with a PS4.

Or ‘low’ because JRPG fans are relatively rare compared to those who like dudebro shooters, the percentage of them owning a current-gen platform in comparison to the percentage of them owning the last-gen platform is too low.

  • Jesse
    • darke

That saying it’s got an August 18th release date? :? Surprisingly quick.

      • http://twitter.com/#!/Leafy_Cam Leafhopper

Its a Compile Heart game they can announce a game in a short window and release it.

      • DyLaN

        September, not August.

  • http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/21421.html?type=4 Kashell

I must know more about this ASAP.
