By Ishaan . June 2, 2014 . 11:32am

Congratulations, Europe—your patience has been rewarded. Two long years after it was first announced, Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga is coming to the PlayStation 3 as a PS2 Classic.

Ghostlight announced the news via their blog, and confirmed that the game will be released on PSN on June 4th. Digital Devil Saga will cost £6.49.

    Hey, it’s not £10! Huzzah!

  • Afternoon Intergalactic

Certainly took them long enough, but good news nonetheless!

  • transferstudentx

    Nice! Enjoy it Europe =)

  • Prithivi

A Steam release with achievements would have been even greater since I already own both games in PS2, but these are great news nonetheless.
Every RPG fan must play this game, such incredible characters and story. DDS was my first Megaten game :)

Oh Man SMT Games on Steam would be a dream come true I would probably die of happiness but hopefully someone uses Recarm to revive me so I get to enjoy it.

Thanks for the correction. I’m rusty on my SMT spells.

          • MaximDualBlade

What you said iss correct, but you would revive with half of your HP and I guess you want your whole HP back XD

    • aizen310

Well, owning the PS2 Classic version is still a step up. First of all better loading times and faster game saving :) And you can use smooth feature to upgrade the visuals (very slightly, still feels and looks nice)

    • Ric Vazquez

      This, thumbs up.

I do admit I’m surprised that we ended up getting the game in the US first since Ghostlight announced it 2 years ago so I had expected maybe the game arriving to EU first before US but hey at least they get to enjoy one of the best SMT games on PS2. Now when is that Digital Devil Saga 2 coming.

  • Buitronthecrazy .

    have fun fighting Demi-fiend…

    • Hound

Only the most well-made optional super boss ever created in a turn-based RPG. Too bad they don’t really clue you in to the fact that Demi-fiend gets pissed and one-shots you if you have the audacity to be immune to anything. You have to kind of blindly approach him with different set-ups until you figure it out =/

I beat him with Serph, Argilla, and Heat (swapping in Gale to survive a second Gaia rage when his Demons finished a second rotation.) ‘Twas a hoot.

I had never been more excited to win against a boss in my life. I took a photo right away just to find out that none of my friends had heard of the game amid their Tales of Symphonia obsession at the time XD

    DD

  • izanagi

DDS 2 is not on the psn store yet what gives?

    • http://s932.photobucket.com/ usagi_san

One victory at time, One at a time. US don’t haven’t it either, it just means it will becoming soon.

      • MaximDualBlade

        Does Europe have Nocturne?

        • http://s932.photobucket.com/ usagi_san

          Nope.

  • persona_yuji

“The demons are pleased.”… Touché, Ishaan, touché.

  • Demeanor

For all first-timers in that strange land, mind the choices you make!
Being a nice Serph might net rewards down the road… :)

  • UnderstandingIndustry

    NTSC/60Hz option??

    • SMT

Hopefully, given how atrocious the 50Hz conversion was…

  • Kornelious

This is much more strait forward than Sili’s North American announcement :P

  • E.T.993

Now all Europe needs is SMTIV and I’ll be happy for them.

  • http://www.spaghetti.com Kaisenex

kinda wish they fixed the slowdown in NA one

  • http://rokuso3.blogspot.com.es/ Victoria [Rokuso3]

Quite curious that the opening sequence was changed in the US but they kept the original in Europe, and yet, despite Ghostlight’s logo at the beginning, this is definitely the american opening!

  • Dystopiq

Now this should’ve gotten an HD Remaster on Vita.

    • Ric Vazquez

This as an HD collection alogn with Digital Devil Saga 2 would have been so awesome.

      • Dystopiq

There are so many great PS2 JRPG’s that deserve remasters.

        • Ric Vazquez

          So very true

  • Abysswalker90

    *headed to europe*

That’s a relief. I was hoping I could get it with the original theme song.

    • Abysswalker90

      Whoa whoa whoa.
Is that the Murikan opening in the trailer??

      NO BUY

  • ManSizeSextet

Finally. And at a decent price to boot!

  • Göran Isacson

The Demons are pleased and so am I. Though I already beat this one long ago, they may one day release the second game and then I will finally see how the story ends…

  • http://www.myspace.com/Juan_Rod bluejuan85

Good news ESRB has rated DDS2 so now to wait and see when it pops up.

  • Ric Vazquez

Glad the europeans are getting to play this now, say Atlus, how about giving them SMTIV now?
