By Ishaan . June 3, 2014 . 6:15am

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call will be released in North America on September 16th and in Europe on September 19th. The Nintendo 3DS rhythm game will also get a collector’s edition.

The Collector’s Edition will be limited to 5,000 copies and will feature a special pouch for the Nintendo 3DS, a music CD with 20 tracks from the game, another CD with five remixed tracks, and five premium CollectaCards from the game.

The Collector’s Edition will cost $69.99 and will be available exclusively through Square Enix’s Online Store.

Additionally, pre-ordering will get fans a limited edition of the game, which includes the remix CD that is also part of the collector’s edition. Pre-orders for the game are open through Amazon now.

Update: Square Enix Europe have announced the collector’s edition, too. The game will be available on September 19th in Europe, and the collector’s edition is identical to the American version. You can grab it at Square Enix’s Online Store in Europe for £44.99/ €54.99.

Additionally, pre-ordering the game from certain retailers in Europe will get you the same limited edition as North America, with the remix music CD containing five tracks.

IT MAY BE AVAILABLE SOLELY THROUGH THE ONLINE STORE, but I really don’t care! This is wonderful!

  • Lavitz

Does this game have all the music from the first game? I never picked that one up and I’ve been wondering if I can just get this one

    • Yes it does. And it has so much more. Totally worth it. It’s making me double dip for the English version. It’s that good if you love music and rhythm games. >.>

    • Michael Kelehan

I believe it has all of the music, including DLC, from the first, plus a bunch more, with even more available as DLC. And new modes, new control schemes… looks really good.

  • negineBIT

Exclusively on Squeenix Online Store. WHY. (´_ゝ`)

    • Brion Valkerion

Exactly. Then tack on their INSANE shipping prices that are the same rates as freaking importing stuff from Japan.

Pft. Looks like I’m getting the normal version SE.

      • Flandre Scarlet

They want $13 for standard, 3-5 day shipping. I can get release day shipping from Amazon for $4.

They should probably re-think their shipping prices…

      • AJ

I like their “maybe we’ll ship it to you, maybe we won’t” policy. It’s rather exciting, really.

  • Trinity

…And it wound up being eighty dollars after tax and shipping. I don’t care. I preordered anyway.

  • GameTaker

Nice the Game is also fully Pre-Orderable in Europe as well! Normal, Limited and Collectors Edition (C.E. 55 €)

  • KingGunblader

Eh considering that DLC is already confirmed, I’ll stick with the standard edition.

  • Tony F.

    Digital River, my greatest nemesis…

  • Zonic505

The fact it’s $30 more & S-E Store exclusive makes it hard for me to be excited for it. Maybe if that 20-track CD has a selection that interests me (& that 5-track first print bonus, which I look forward to getting), but the cards do nothing and the pouch, while a neat design, probably wouldn’t get used much.

    • Very true. I’d think that, despite being expensive, the price is justified by the 20 and 5 track CDs. Reasoning? Soundtracks with 20 or so tracks still go for about $25+ dollars if you buy them otherwise, so I have no more qualms about my preorder. It’s a heck ton expensive but I think it’s worth it for that music.

    • Suki

I won’t lie, I just pre-ordered it but I feel kind of silly. The tax and the crazy shipping is making me rethink the decision but I’ve always wanted a nice 3DS case. I doubt it’ll fit my 3DS XL though.

  • Kornelious

Huh. I wasn’t thinking about buying this game at first but since there is a Collectors Edition….
I might be able to fit this into my already busy September schedu- “Available exclusively through Square Enix’s Online Store”…..(Sigh) nevermind :(

  • Izzy Miyake

Well I was going to buy the regular edition. But the foolish collector in me wants the CE.

Oh well, guess I’m not buying any other games that month.

  • Flandre Scarlet

You had me until, “Exclusively on the Square Enix store”. Looks like I’m keeping my Amazon pre-order.

  • rubin

Only 20 songs on the CD? Sqeenix please…

    • Umm. *glances at Bravely Default CE “soundtrack” CD*
I…. Don’t think I’d complain about 20+5 tracks. That’s pretty darn amazing since I haven’t ever seen a company release the ENTIRE soundtrack with a LE or CE. That’s would skyrocket the price anyway.

      But that price. Ouch.

  • Eric Harris

Limited Edition for me. Can’t reason with myself to fork over $80+ for this when the Kingdom Hearts LE (the same exact size) was like $55 – $60 if I remember correctly.

  • Slickyslacker

Alright, I’ll fork over $50 more. At least I haven’t already reserved this one.

    …Yeah, I know I’m a whore.

I can seriously use that pouch, though. The undersides of my pillows have served as my 3DS storage space, until now.

  • Mace

I’m getting this game digital because I will be super addicted to it and I don’t wanna go through the hassle of changing out carts everytime I need my fix.

  • E.T.993

  • Michael Martin

Wish the pouch was sized to hold a 3DS XL, not the original size.

  • NintendoPSXTheSecond

I don’t see the problem with it being on the Square-Enix store so, CE here I come!
P.S. Why is it being on the Squenix store a problem?

    • Brandonmkii

Unusually expensive, slow shipping, for starters. Plus I generally don’t like places that charge you before the item actually ships.

      • NintendoPSXTheSecond

I don’t see how a collectors edition is “unusually” expensive. Most are. Plus if you buy online, slow shipping should be expected really.

        • Brandonmkii

I meant for the shipping. And I’m not sure where you’ve been buying things, but I can have most new releases within two days from across the country. Waiting over a week for something shipping a couple states over is virtually unacceptable.

          • Eric Harris

        • Eric Harris

The Kingdom Hearts Mark of Mastery edition has the exact same styling and was $54.99 and avail at Amazon and Gamestop. Now this does come with a carrying case (which I don’t care for) but does that justify it being $15 more plus having to spend almost $15 extra for slow and careless shipping? There is also a limited edition with special slipcover for $39.99 I’d rather get that.

        • Solomon_Kano

Nah, man. I ordered from them for the first time with the D3 CE and that wasn’t a fun experience. Even Amazon’s free shipping is leaps and bounds above what they offer. Not to mention, easily tracked. My tracking number told me my CE was sitting a state away for 4 days — even after they shipped it out prior to the release date to get it there quicker — and still didn’t update once it had been delivered (well after the release date).

Slow shipping definitely isn’t the norm with Amazon, under any circumstance, and that seems to be where the majority of folks do their online shopping for games.

    • Card

The company that manages it, Digital River, has a notoriously bad reputation. The main issue being (at least in my experience) that their customer service is less than helpful. When they ran the Tera online subscriptions, I had cancelled my recurring payment at least 3 times before I finally stopped getting charged.
Edit: Oh yea, and they also royally screwed up the Ni No Kuni Wizard Edition, effectively screwing many people out of a copy and not even telling many of them.

  • Guilherme Matheus Silva

Limited Version is enough for me.

    • Eric Harris

Me too, comes with a special slipcover and won’t cost more than $80 after shipping charges.

  • Pity I’ll just stick with the regular edition and in other news on the latest batch of DLC coming to the game Cidolfus Orlandeau from FF Tactics get added. New songs include FF VIII – Premontition – Battle, FF IX Vivi’s Theme – Field, FF Tactics – Ovelia’s Theme – Field and finally Chocobo Dungeon – Pop-Duel – Battle.

  • flameraver64

Is this worth it? I’ve actually had an OK experience with DIgital River with my Drakengard 3 CE, and that seemed worth it, but not sure about this one…

  • Ric Vazquez

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    so cute <3

  • Solomon_Kano

    I’ll stick to the LE.

  • Sevidical

Has anyone actually been able to preorder either of these versions from the EU store? Both links from the official Theatrhythm site are redirecting me to the home page, even though they’re meant to take me directly to the product page, and the EU search isn’t showing any results for Theatrhythm. :( Anyone got any ideas?

    • AoiShingo

By now you probably have already found a solution, but just in case…I preordered it yesterday from the Store’s site! The url is: The pre-order for the Collector Edition should be right there in the front page (and shipping is free for the EU, so you’r going to be charged only for 54,99€)

      • Sevidical

Hey man, thanks for the response! Unfortunately I still can’t see it – I can only see PC downloads, no physical copies for any of the games. Perhaps it’s because I’m in Australia? D:

  • Keiji Johnson

WHY?! Why must all these awesome collectors editions for these recent Final Fantasy games like Lightning Returns and the X/X-2 Remaster be available exclusively on Square’s Online Store? Why couldn’t we be able to pre-order these at places like Gamestop or Amazon like we were able to do with Kingdom Hearts 3D’s Mark of Mastery edition? I never really got why they do this a lot lately… (。-_-。)

  • Sora96

Why wasn’t there a digital version for the original game?
