Mario Kart 8’s Mercedes DLC Announced For U.S. And Europe [Update]

By Ishaan . June 20, 2014 . 9:30am

Mario Kart 8’s Mercedes DLC has been confirmed for release in the U.S. and Europe by Nintendo. The publisher announced the DLC via Twitter this morning.

Nintendo and Mercedes-Benz originally announced the downloadable content in Japan last month. As part of the collaboration between the two companies a “GLA-class kart” modeled in the image of a Mercedes vehicle will be brought to the game.

In the U.S. and Europe, the DLC will be available this Summer.

Update: Announced for U.S. as well.

Is really good to know that nintendo remembers that We’re all living in Amerika Amerika ist wunderbar
Sorry Mercedes Benz, America and I’m listening Rammstein at this moment, I couldn’t refrain to do it

  • ZEROthefirst

It was announced by Nintendo of America half an hour ago that it’s coming state-side in Summer as well.

  • RawrWata

    AWWWWWWWH YEAH

  • AuraGuyChris

    Stay classy, Mario.

  • James Enk

YES!!!… finaly…. jk, but i have no problem with this

  • XypherCode

People thinking this DLC is very out of place really makes no sense. Regardless of what Kart you choose you still get that insane crazy racing action on the track, branded or not. The game already has a sports coup kart so I don’t see any problem with this. You don’t get a chance to hit a benz with shells everyday. And this might be the only time I can drive one. xD

    • The Watcher

There is a kart that is literally a shoe….i rather drive mercedes than a shoe.

  • Ali

I wholeheartedly support this decision. About time Nintendo started making some business savvy decisions. Now…I hope there’s DLC in SSB4 to hopefully increase its longetivity. Im hoping classic levels and such…

  • kylehyde

So Europe is going to be soon invaded by a German car drived by an Italian plumber which was created by a Japanese man. Something sounds strangely familiar to me.

The only rescue for Japan – an AE86 Trueno Kart-DLC.

Hope they plan on adding real content through DLC later. Birdo, Bowser Jr, Ashley, more tracks… I’d be up for it!

    • Kristoffer Brandberg

I fear many people won’t be much interested in purchasing DLC featuring Bowser Jr. I know I wouldn’t, we got plenty of Koopalings in the game already.

      • leingod

I’m not that fond of Bowser Jr. either. To be honest, I was just typing the first missing characters that came to my mind. Still, he’s more interesting than baby / metallic versions of existing characters, I guess.

What I’d really like though, would be more remade SNES tracks.

        • BlinkingRune

I’m actually pretty fond of the metal characters—the heavy characters are almost all kind of brutish, so I’m glad to have more “cute” options for when I want to race as a heavyweight racer.

  • GoldLiger(Bijuu no Sennin)

    Awesome free DLC.

  • LDM

Now just imagine DLC with Mario riding a giant 4×4 Ford truck with sunglasses while contemplating his masculinity.

  • Ben Sylvia

We got the Blue Falcon in MKW.

Lets get some Falcon Kart Ramming in this game.

  • Fox

    I was hoping for DLC.

Specifically, track/cup DLC. I’d pay a lot for new tracks.
Hell, I like the game enough I’d probably pay a little bit for new carts.

But a car? Gimme a ****ing break. But I guess I should have expected it from Nintendo–they always manage to disappoint, no matter the odds.

Obviously having a downloadable car sounds like they are interested in future DLC…

    • Haganeren

      Too soon !
I am also interested in DLC but if they talk about releasing it now i would be really upset to Nintendo. It would mean they have made content for the game during the initial development that they would release only if we pay more. I know all other editors do that but I am against.

… But you know, six months from now, when not much people talk about Mario Kart 8 anymore, having a little Nintendo Direct which said “ok, we will add two cups : One neo, one retro” would be absolutely awesome !

    • jugss

I would love all tracks from Mario Kart Wii and All Rainbow Roads from each Mario Kart game.

    • Slayven19

Lot of criticism over nothing especially when you don’t have all the info. This DLC is free and launch basically alongside MK8 in japan. GIve it time and they might release characters or tracks.

  • Kevin

Aw hell ya, I’m about to roll in fresh and take first in every race. Swag

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Incoming All new DLC, BMW, Mazda, Subaru, Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, and everyone favorite Lambo.^_^

Having Wreck It Ralph in Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed is still the coolest bonus cart in a cart racer so far, but this is neat.

Though it always baffles me that Sega/Disney opted for Ralph instead of Vanellope. I guess they didn’t think people would remember TWO main characters, especially a girl. That’s crazy! :P

  • jugss

This is still free dlc right? Cause I remember the Japanese one was free.

    Wut…

  • CirnoLakes

It looks… a little bit out of place.
