Nintendo Has Unannounced Ideas For The Legend of Zelda On 3DS

By Ishaan . July 3, 2014 . 8:00am

At Nintendo’s 74th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, the company’s managing director, Shigeru Miyamoto, was questioned about the future of the Legend of Zelda franchise. While Miyamoto would not comment on the upcoming Wii U game, he did discuss the future of the series in other ways.

“At this point, there are a few titles under development in ‘The Legend of Zelda’ series, so please look forward to their completion,” Miyamoto stated. He then went on to explain that the new Wii U Zelda is an open-world game and Hyrule Warriors is an action game.

Following those two games, Miyamoto briefly discussed A Link Between Worlds, and how the goal with that game was to gradually begin changing the structure of the Zelda series.

Finally, Miyamoto stated: “In addition to that, we have ideas for Nintendo 3DS which we have not announced yet, so I hope you will look forward to them.”

Legend of Zelda (NES) – 3D remake. Obviously.

Similar game =/= remake. Oracle of Seasons was originally intended as a remake but turned into a standalone thing with passing similarities. Ocarina of Time is only similar in that it has dual worlds.

  • Namuro

Bring it on! I’m ready for another Zelda announcement!

  • Caribbean Brony

    Another Zelda on 3DS? Interesting.

Majora’s Mask fanboys must be grinning.

  • Dystopiq

    Oracles games please. Screw MM.

    • Evil-Antho

you deserve all the yes in the world. I am literally begging to get remakes of the oracle games.

      • Dystopiq

Don’t listen to the Nay Sayers. They don’t appreciate a classic.

    • Aisha Lee

With both those games on virtual console already. I highly doubt they’ll go the remake route with those two. They could bring back the cancalled Oracle of Secrets though.

    • Zertan

If it still have that dance Minigame then screw that.

That picture was such a dirty tease…..T-T

  • GameTaco

Wii U Zelda is an open-world game and Hyrule Warriors is an action game, therefore the next 3DS Zelda must be a puzzle game.

    • Taedirk

      Untapped genres? Zelda eroge incoming.

      • GameTaco

Princess Ruto path is best path.

        • John Smith

Pff, best girl is obviously the Great Fairy.

          • GameTaco

            She’ll be the hidden character~

watch yourself link that chick’s insane
she can only give you so many magic gifts before she starts wanting rings in return

        • NintendoPSXTheSecond

Clearly Groose is the true path.

      • J_Joestar

        Doesn’t have to be ero
could just be a Love Plus with a LoZ theme like Hyrule Warriors.

      • 古戸ヱリカ

Zelda eroge where every obtainable character is just a different incarnation of Link. None of them say anything ever.

      • KoRLumen

        Yandere Malon pls.

        • Justin Graham

“Here, Link! Have some…milk. Yes, that’s it. Milk…”

  • http://takopako.tumblr.com takopako

zelda turn based rpg…that would be different.

    • Guest

      What’s the point?

      • http://takopako.tumblr.com takopako

what do you mean, “what’s the point”? what’s the point to any game? to entertain an audience.

    • Seth Rich

Just imagine all the random battles with bobokins!

  • ZEROthefirst

As long as it’s not extreme baby hand holding easy mode like A Link Between Worlds then I’m all for it. You know a Zelda game is ridiculously easy when you can go through the game without losing more than 2 hearts and end the game with 17 hearts when you’re not even trying to find any of the heart pieces on your first playthrough. I swear the things are in such plain site it’s almost an insult not to get them when they stare you in the face. Sadly Hero Mode wasn’t much of a difference for the game either.

Not saying A Link Between Worlds was a bad game, but good god was the difficulty and length of the game just the most laughable Zelda game ever. Just laughably places itself above the Angler Fish boss from Link’s Awakening (yes I’m comparing an easy boss to an extremely easy game).

    • Aaron K Stone

Past Zelda 2 none of the Zelda games have been particularly challenging.

      • ZEROthefirst

I know, but ALBW is just soooo pathetically easy. It’s fun, but it needs at least a slight~ bit of it.

        • HarakiriKami

          Play Hero Mode

          • ZEROthefirst

Hero Mode only brings that slight~ bit of challenge to the game, and it’s only because enemies do more damage to you when they hit you. I mentioned in my original message that Hero Mode did next to nothing for ALBW.

    • Sentinel

Yeah, the difficulty was pathetic. I think even the Kirby games were more challenging than ALBW. Yeah, I’m exaggerating a bit, but it was that bad.

    • http://gentlerobot.com/ Gentle Robot

THAT GAME ROCKED MY BALLS WOOOOO

    • Touma

puzzles really where easy (never got stuck) but i was never bored no matter how easy they where. they where easy, but they where also clever. so unlike skyward sword i actually liked it despite the easiness. this coming from someone who hated the ALBW’s reveal and thought the wall thing would be shit. turned into my favorite thing in the whole game.

  • Ralek

Something new or finally that MM remake …

  • Aaron K Stone

Can we just concentrate on Zelda Wii U for the time being.

    • Kurizu208

Why? A 3ds title will in no way impact the wiiu one. They would have different teams obviously.

  • ZetaSiren

They just need to get Grezzo on board for that Majora’s Mask remake, that way they can focus on other projects.

    • Qunton C.

Grezzo recently had job postings for a new “Legend” with gold text and the kanji for “Legend” emphasized.

      http://www.grezzo.co.jp/jp/recruit_kinkyu/

Well would you look at that. I think we’re on to something. :)

Another 2D (or even 3D) Zelda game on 3DS would be great!

  • James Enk

imo each console should get a maximum of 2 Zelda games during it’s life span, i love Zelda and i want them to take their time with the series

    • idrawrobots

I guess you don’t like the GameCube.

      • James Enk

        i love the GC;)

        • idrawrobots

It has like 5 Zelda games!

          • James Enk

guys it’s not like if a console has more than 2 i will rage for ever and hate the console and the games…

    *LOOKING FORWARD INTENSIFIES*
    I couldn’t resist, sorry.

  • Sentinel

Hopefully the next one is either the MM remake or a brand new game that’s actually NEW and doesn’t have you renting items from a guy who takes over your house.

  • Jettythesunfish

    Hopefully another new 3DS title.

  • Kroz

    Zelda rhythm game!
…honestly just want more of an excuse to listen to Grooses theme

    • Snorlaxation

Everyone busts a move to Malo Mart’s magic theme. They can’t resist.

    • Evil-Antho

all hail Groose’s amazing theme of doofyness

  • awang0718

I would like a brand new 3D Zelda on the 3DS. That would be nice.

  • decus

Let Capcom make a zelda game again. Oracle of Ages/Seasons were great.

      They also did minish cap

Modern Legend of Zelda using the Majora Mask Timeline

    • 罪罰

      eww

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

seen that coming…. people are freaking afraid of change!? annoys me

        • Andrew Boyce

There’s change, then there’s Final Fantasy X to X-2 change. This is the latter, lmao.

  • Quan Chi

Another copy paste zelda that uses the same assets as a previous version
but magically the ppl have different names. Sounds about right. Either
that or Zelda yarn or Zelda playdoh xD

    Delete it again bitch.

    • 罪罰

      woah the edge

    • Armageddon

Ever played Call of Duty? if not, you should that’s where “THE” real copy paste is.

      • Quan Chi

You mean like when not one zelda or link is the same person but they magically look alike and fans shout at the slightest idea of giving them voices even though it won’t make a difference because they aren’t the same ppl. Or when you have to beat the exact same bosses in the exact same dungeons on that new 3DS one that were defeated already on ALTTP? You mean how there are 10 billion evil samuses and 10 billion dark links and dark zeldas. You mean like there are 2 ganons for no apparent reason. You mean like saying call of duty like it means something to me? You mean like mario kart 8 when every version has the same stages? You mean like mario games where almost every last boss is the same last boss? You mean like Wario Land VB’s last boss was basically used in DK’94, DKCR, Various Super Marios, Zelda OoA/S, and a gameboy wario game? You mean like Paper Mari, I mean ALBW?

        • Armageddon

Exaggerated, but what im saying COD has a LOT more copy paste than Zelda. Atleast zelda has a better campaing than the copy paste that is COD.
One more thing how did you reach DK,Marioand paper mari we were talking about zelda. Clearly your just bashing nintendo.

  • Kamen Rider Rayz

    Zeldas anywhere. I’ll pass….

  • Yan Zhao

Good to know there are more unannounced Zelda games coming :D

  • Josecoolfun

I want the legend of zelda: a link to the past 2,the legend of zelda: a link to the past 3,the legend of zelda: a link to the past side stories, and the legend of zelda: a link to the past characters have their own stories with creative gameplays.

  • awang0718

Someone has played too much Call of Duty…

  • http://keiserone.tumblr.com/ KeiserOne

When has LoZ ever been a copy paste from previous installments? Even if you’re counting Link Between Worlds (which you shouldn’t but still), it shared map similarities with its “prequel” but everything else was pretty much new. Please take a seat, trolling can be tiresome.

  • Blesmi

Your age is showing. He’s clearly referencing Majora’s Mask.

  • Quan Chi

That’s funny, I don’t see that game in my roster.
Mods, you stupid pieces of crap, stop deleting my posts for no reason dumb fuck.

  • s07195

I kinda understand you were referencing Majora’s Mask, but the tone did kinda infringe on rule number 3…which is, don’t beat a dead horse.
Can’t really blame mods for doing their job. It’s not like the ‘Zelda reusing same ideas’ thing hasn’t been said by many other people already. :P
That said, your comment was funny to me because I also want MM so I can play it for the first time… I don’t think calling the mods stupid pieces of crap and dumb f**ks is going to earn you any cookies, though.

  • Quan Chi

Beating a dead horse isn’t a tone. And in order to ‘beat one’, the horse had to be there in the first place. ‘Zelda’s great!’ has been said over and over again. That makes no sense. I see nowhere where somebody said anything similar under this article. And no fucks are given about any ‘cookies’. And I was talking about more than majora’s mask. Theres. OoA, OoS, LBW, MC, etc. and whatever nintendo is doing with kirby and yoshi. Oh noes, I’m not talking the same about Zelda as anyone else. LET’S DELETE POSTS!

  • s07195

I don’t usually speak or reply to these issues, but perhaps it’s the way of expression? As a third party to this incident, my first reaction to your post before rereading it was a small sense e, since that has been expressed in lots of Zelda related article, though not necessarily this one. (I do admit that it’s seen less on Siliconera.)
I’m not personally close to the SE mods, but I do find them to be reasonable bunch of people. It’s not like opinions on Zelda/Nintendo reusing ideas, etc. have no merit either. But I do sense that the way it was expressed could have seemed inflammatory in nature, which is why I brought up rule 3 as a possible reason for why the post was deleted.
I’ve been lurking SE since 2011 I believe, and I find that SE quite treasures fleshed out posts in a polite manner, and it forms the core of the community you can find here. Anyways…well, that’s my input.
