Under Night In-Birth Coming To North America

By Ishaan . July 4, 2014 . 3:31pm

Aksys Games are localizing Under Night In-Birth for release in North America. The fighting game is scheduled for release on PlayStation 3 in 2015.

Under Night In-Birth is co-developed by Ecole Software and French Bread, the developers of Melty Blood. The version Aksys are localizing is Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late, an updated version of the game with balance changes and additional fighters.

We’ll have more information on the game’s English release as it is made available.

  • Muffum

Well, I saw this coming. Looking forward to it, either way.

  • I-e-on

Saw it coming. I probably won’t get it though since I know what happened with Melty Blood and there will probably be multiple re-releases.

    • Triplicity

This is the rerelease. But I hear what you’re saying.

    • AkuLord3

Fighting games get updates ever if extensions too many times. You might as well not buy any fighters since they’ll always do this (even sequel sequels) but yeah its been in arcades and such for like…2-3 years and Exe Late is the new release with its patch changes and new characters.

      • I-e-on

I meant this with UNIB only really since FrenchBread did plenty of re-releases for Melty Blood (6 in total/ 4 PC Releases/ 2 PS2 Releases) and this one just seems the most inevitable out of any possible updated version for a fighting game, considering the developer and publisher.

EDIT: When I said re-releases I meant for platforms that weren’t an arcade system. There are 14 re-releases all combined.

  • Kelohmello

Nice. It’s pretty late after the japanese release, but I can see myself picking this up as well just to support it.

  • David Alexander

It is truly a great time to be a fighting game fan.

  • DarkLight

Damn waaaaaay to many games to get…..

  • Kornelious

    YES!!! I Knew it!!! :D

It isn’t too much of a surprise to hear that this but it’s still awesome! This is definently gonna be a Day-One buy for me, I kinda wish it was coming earlier but the Japanese version hasn’t even released yet so it makes a little sense.(Don’t know if i can take the wait though )X ) I just hope they release it physically (Possible LE too?)…..This game DESREVES IT!

Now all we need is a localization of Dengeki bBnko Fighting Climax and my Fighting game Wish-List will be complete! =D

  • Epic Markell Joshua

Wow Awesome New Now the question is to wait or not the struggle i really do wanna play it.

  • vileBrenman

Awww yeah i saw this coming a mile away! This game looks really good

  • mikanko

2015 hm. Well I guess I might have enough money to buy it again by then since my import copy is coming at the end of the month.

I suppose they want to space out their fighting game releases with AH3 this fall and Xrd coming at the end of the year.

Still 6months+ for a fighting game seems a bit much.

  • Cephrien

I’m gonna import it anyway. I’ve been waiting way too long to get my hands on this game. lol

  • Yan Zhao

Man 2015, so far away. Glad its coming though.

  • jayjay

    Day one without question!

    • DriftSlave

      I with you brotha~

  • HellMuT

I just pre-ordered the JP version a few days ago.

    • ShinNeoGranzon

For your sake, I hope that either your Japanese or can read Japanese. Otherwise, I’m sorry for your wallet’s loss

      • Triplicity

Not true necessarily; that’s a lot of extra time to get early practice in and be ahead of everyone else

  • http://www.spaghetti.com Kaisenex

so is this game original? or is it based off of something? like the characters or story (if any)

    • Pandafilando

original characters and story from french bread and ecole , those companies developed melty blood supervised by Type-Moon, there may be some similarities between the two, but they are in no way connected to the nasuverse (save for the Sion Cameo, but that’s just it)

      • http://www.spaghetti.com Kaisenex

        thanks for the info

      • Death Metal

Apart from Sion, I noticed another cameo: Akatsuki from Akatsuki Blitzkampf, which was supposedly an indie game on the PC from 2007 that made it to the arcades a couple years later, but it was not related to French Bread. So I was wondering if this Under Night game was some sorte of collaboration from a lot of companies/studios…

  • Guest

Can’t wait for EU to get the middle finger.

    • Eder García

at least PS3 is region free

      • Guest

Very true, but I shouldn’t really need to set up multiple accounts just to get different games.

        • Göran Isacson

This. I do hope they can find it in their hearts to send it to us poor Europeans, but I’m hoolding my breath for it. It’ll at the very least come out HELLA later, most likely.

  • Mar Mar

So far every new game coming from Japan has been localized.

Now just need God Eater 2 and Falcom games.

    • RichyGaming

All Japan games? That stretching it a bit lol. Theres still Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax (a fighting game with anime characters in Sega stages like Kirito from SAO series vs Misaka from Railgun/Index series, duking it out in Sonic’s Green Hill stage)

But I agree holy crap we are getting a lot of new titles

      • Go2hell66

Dengeki is sooooo getting localized, not even worried at this point

        • ShinNeoGranzon

I feel the exact opposite. Anime games never seem to be localized unless they have Naruto or One Piece in their names, and Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax features characters from multiple animes

          • Go2hell66

Have you been keeping track of all the fighting games weve been getting lately? is there even anything left to localise at this point? We’ve literally gotten everything from AH3 LM to Aquapazza to Chaos Code. you say naruto and one piece games are the only ones we get but the only game i can think of that were not getting is jstar victory vs.

          • Renaldi Saputra

Dengeki Bunko has the same licensing issue like J-Stars, a BUNCH of trademarks

          • mike dickson

not really most of them come from, the same company so its up to the higher ups to give the green light

          • Renaldi Saputra

don’t you know Dengeki Bunko was published by SEGA? And do you know SEGA now only care of Miku and Sonic?

          • mike dickson

Dengeki bunko is a light novel publishing division they have nothing to do with Sega with the exception of this game and its prequel

          • Renaldi Saputra

I think it’s the same as Shueisha -> Bamco

          • mike dickson

not really there with ASCII Media Works

          • ShinNeoGranzon

I’m talking about games based off animes as a whole, not just fighting games
EDIT: To be more specific, games of actual animes, not just with anime style graphics

  • Rafael Martines

    2015? Oh God Why :(

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Leafy_Cam Leafhopper

      Blazblue CP is out.
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax and Guilty Gear Xrd is coming this fall as well. 2015 seems kinda tactical if you ask me.

  • RichyGaming

Um… I GUESS I’ll wait for the ENG version now. I plan to get P4AU, GGXrd, and DBFC. I’ll be more than busy enough to wait for UNIB lol

  • Based Ignacio Puppo

Well, if this doesn’t get a physical release I’m importing, regardless, this is good news for everyone, this game looked very appealing ever since it was first announced for the Arcades, and the devs have that Melty Blood cred.

  • SpeeeeedowaGOOONnnn

    Dah, Dis Will work

  • Tonemanzero

Thank you based Aksys for feeding my need for stylish fighting games!

  • $18114340

    there is a god

  • Kroz

Great news, been wanting to try this

  • MrJechgo

    Huh… digital only or physical?

  • AkuLord3

Sweet, i was going import but i’ll wait (had to wait when i had the money anyway >.>;) still pretty happy and not too surprise but is~.

  • http://danierc-polloconpapas.tumblr.com/ Eduardo Rocha

Great *_* I was really hoping they would localize this.

  • Eder García

OMFG!!! time to get a PS3

    • Shane Guidaboni

NOW it’s time to get one? You should have one a long time ago.

  • Solomon_Kano

2015, eh? They’re truly living up to the late part of the title, but I’m grateful to see it come over all the same.

    • SohoX

Late indeed, but probably for the best. If this would come to the US anywhere near GGXrd release date, it would most likely get ignored.

  • Go2hell66

BAM! And the everything is right in the world!

    *dances*

  • Sperium3000

Well, Melty Blood was pretty fun and I really dig the character designs in this one, so color me interested.

  • ShinNeoGranzon

Finally the only fighting game I’ve ever been interested in other than P4 Arena, Blazblue, and Dengeki Bunko is being localized! I might as well ask, what character do the people of the world plan to main as? I plan to use Yuzuriha and Nanase, though Hyde, Seth, and Vatista also look good. Heck, all of the characters look fun to play as! I suck at fighting games, but this has been one of my most hyped for games ever since it first came out in arcades. Hurry up and be 2015 already!

    • RichyGaming

I’m looking at Seth, Eltnum, Akatsuki and Yuzuriha. Mostly Eltnum and Yuzuriha though. They look sick!

    • 栗場 江理久

I plan to play Orie(mostly), Chaos, Vatista, or Seth :D I love any character that uses a rapier, that’s my instant favorite xD

    • Triplicity

      GRIMREAPER

Nah, just kidding. Probably Linne and Seth. Maybe Eltnum and Orie on the side.

    • IsaacGravity

Definitely interested in Chaos and Yuzuriha. Vatista, Gordeau and Seth look interesting too.

    • Raging Rasta

      Carmine, Linne and GORDEAU!

  • Shadow Rebirth

Firefly Diary, checked. Freedom wars, checked. Akiba’s Trip, checked. Now, let’s see, where’s my God Eater 2?! T_T

    • Renaldi Saputra

      ask Bamco for that

      • Shadow Rebirth

already asked ‘em 3 months ago. sadly, they said they have no plans for it.

        • Renaldi Saputra

well, I realized that, some ppl asked Bamco UK several weeks ago and got replied “no”

meanwhile they still keep being silent about digimon

Aksys have nothing to do with Bamco games anw, especially exclusive series like God Eater IIRC

  • Rawindra

I wonder if ENG dub will be announced, provided by Aksys. Jewpuncher, Hyde, Seth & Gordeau? Here i come!

  • Michael Batista

Here’s hoping that really old rumor about a possible steam version, was not a an empty one.

  • Alex Cattaneo

    Have a physical release!!!

  • http://youtube.com/kuyamagix iKen

This or Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax….

Man, I like them both. But can only afford one XD I played the crap out of Melty Blood, so the gameplay mechanics of Under NIght shouldn’t be that hard. Dengeki Bunko FC in the other hand is new and refreshing…. hmmm

    • http://www.segalization.com/ Kuronoa

You should have money for both if this is coming in 2015 and Dengeki Bunko comes fall for import.

    • Jonathan Caminhas

Dengeki Bunko should be localized too, they are both day one buy for me.

      • Renaldi Saputra

I doubt much for Dengeki Bunko

        • Jonathan Caminhas

I doubt too, but we can never stop dreamin my friend.

          • Renaldi Saputra

indeed, but the licensing issues are too much, so, well

          • Guest

well, i wasn’t excepting for under night in birth coming to US, so it’s still a possibility

          • Renaldi Saputra

under night in birth is published by Arc System Works… that’s one thing to prove

and I think this has not to do with licensing problem

        • ForteWily

I would agree with you, and then I remember that Aquapazza happened…

So yeah, it might be getting something down the line…

          • Renaldi Saputra

            that’s surely different dude

          • ForteWily

            Not completely.

          • Renaldi Saputra

The publisher of this game is SEGA
J-Stars didn’t got localized bcos a bunch of licensing issues

  • Shady Shariest

    EVERY. EFFING. TIME!
    I read it as under night inbred ;_;

  • Hagaren

Yes! Now I just need to know if it will have a disc release. If not, Japan import it is.

  • Aristides

    Looking forward to this ^^

  • Raging Rasta

I refuse to wait till next year for this game. This will be the first game that I’ll ever import.

  • MSJ

Aksys not even mentioning Fate/Extra CCC…

    • Renaldi Saputra

      maybe bcos it’s PSP

      • ShinNeoGranzon

It could be download only on PSN so people can get it on Vita, assuming it is localized at all

        • Renaldi Saputra

and then how many people will buy digitally?
It can be digital only if like that

          • ShinNeoGranzon

I know I for one would definitely download it

  • Crevox

As much as I want this game, I’m not going to wait for 2015 to get it in English. It’s just too long of a wait; it shouldn’t take this long for them to localize the game. If they want people to buy games like this and BlazBlue, they need to tighten up the release date between Japanese and English. There’s almost no reason not for me to just get the Japanese version off PSN.

I am curious if they’re going to dub the game though. If they’re using Arc System Works netcode and ACW helped out with it, then we may see English voices already done in the Japanese version as an option, in order to have support for the eventual English release. If that’s the case (like BlazBlue), it would mean localization work on it already started, and there’s no reason at all it should be taking until 2015 for a release. BlazBlue released in Japanese LONG before the English version, and yet the English voices were already done and implemented. When the localized version finally came out, it was sloppy and riddled with errors, bad meme references, and missing modes (Library mode just completely gone).

So yeah, thanks but no thanks on this one. I’m glad it was finally brought up for localization, but this is just silly. Having people wait for a 2015 release (such a large gap in Japanese and English releases), for a fighting game no less, is just unacceptable. It’s bad for the people that want to play it now, and it’s bad for the people that actually wait for it, because when they go online to play, it’s going to be full of people that have been playing the game for 6 months+++.

    • ZDH

Considering that we are getting GG XRD, P4U2, USF4 Steam Ed. and butt ton of other Fighting games. I think 2015 is a good release date if ppl really want it they can import it, not that hard or expensive depending on location. That or make a JP PSN for the download. 2015 localization good for two reasons. 1. it means there will be a community online a year from now and won’t be dead in like a couple of month. 2. it also makes it possible to be an EVO title depending on the date it is released at. Now that its localized and that would be a dream come true for me cause i would go to EVO for this.

  • TerrenceEncore Jones

    Good News!

  • https://twitter.com/LLCoolOyd Lloyd

Second game I’m importing for the ps3

    • ShinNeoGranzon

      What was the first?

  • tengabro

    Late indeed

  • AkuLord3

    haha…

  • CrimsonDX

    If only….

  • Eder García

the games already delayed by Nasu

  • DividedSeraph

Aksys said ‘no comment’, which is sad.

  • Zeether

No, it’s not. Aksys is only the publisher. If French Bread wants to do a PC version it will happen.

  • DyLaN

CCC is ady out in Japan though?

  • Renaldi Saputra

    2 years ago IIRC
