Super Smash Bros. For 3DS Has This Exclusive Pac-Man Stage

By Ishaan . July 4, 2014 . 8:29am

The Nintendo 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. has an exclusive stage called Pac-Maze, director Masahiro Sakurai has revealed. As the name suggests, it’s based on a Pac-Man motif, and if you eat 100 dots, Power Pellets appear in your colour.

“If you eat a Power Pellet, the monsters will become vulnerable and you can defeat them just by touching them,” Sakurai writes.

“An important point is that the monsters will become vulnerable only on your screen, which means that they can still damage your opponents!! This is one of the unique game features only possible in the 3DS version.”

Not bad. I wonder if there’ll be some kind of visual representation for others that x player has a power pellet or not, though.

It would appear you get an aura around your character based on which player slot you are.

      P1 gets red.
      P2 gets blue, etc.

It’s neat that they did something like this, especially since I have a 3DS instead of a Wii U, but I really think they could have found a way to make it work on the Wii U. Maybe turning the player Blue instead of the ghosts. Not the most accurate pac-man representation, but it could work.

it’s obviously cheap tactics so you buy both Wii U and 3DS version,
i don’t understand why none complains. lel
Why every nintendo moves always categorized as innovation or smart move, damn you cultist.

    • SakuStar Light

i have to disagree with you. Nintendo is not making you do anything. You choose to buy wii or wii u version base on the content, the idea goes for thought of this the convience of on the go or at home you can play smash. I for one think its a nice and smart move on Nintendo part. I support the big N, why should we complain. That’s like saying there a church and liquor store near each other. Are the church making you go to the liquor store is the liquor store making you go to the church or do you choose to go.

But hey its your decision!!! (⌒▽⌒)

NIntendo doesn’t need cheap tactics to sell a portable version of Super Smash Bros. People would buy this version even if it was an empty box with the words “spar smoosh bras 4 threeds” written on it.

  • s07195

Glad that the 3DS version is getting a few more interesting stages, at least.
    …Metroid Fusion stage when? ;)

  • 古戸ヱリカ

I think this is pushing the definition of a maze.

  • Superior Spider-Man

    Where is my main?

  • triablos

Glad the 3ds version is getting some love since that’s the version I’m getting!

    • i couldnt forgive myself if i didnt get both.

      • triablos

If I ever get a Wii U, smash Bros will definitely be one of the first games I get

  • Kornelious

    Wow, that was…..expected…..But so was Pac-Man :P

  • Edgar Nieves

    Now confirmed.

    • God

They can’t do that, who whould play a game that takes 2 seconds to complete?

      • 2 seconds that’s way to long for a match with chuck

        • God

2 seconds to clear the game at 1000%, a match would take approximately 0.0000000000001 seconds.

          • Edgar Nieves

Chuck noris is so awsome that he dose not fight. the battle is declared a win when U select him.

      • Göran Isacson

        I know right?

Any Mii decked out like Bruce Lee would kick Norris cowboy ass straight up. Wouldn’t even be any challenge in it.

        • God

A battle between Chuck (Human form) And the REAL Bruce Lee would destroy the known universe faster than you can say “hater”, but an imitator? A Mii stands no chance against the almighty Chuck, since Chuck would inmediately consider it unworthy and wipe him from existence.

  • Nobody

Do not like exclusive anything.I would rather have all the stages and game modes be the same for both versions.

    • 하세요

Then the 3DS version would just look like a watered down version of the Wii-U version. This gives people a reason to actually want to get the 3DS version other than portability. I really like how they are going about the differences.

All the characters are the same, which is what everyone really cares about.

      • Nobody

You really think a couple of stages will prevent it from being a watered-down version of the Wii U version? The main draw SHOULD be being able to play it on the go, not being able to play on a joke for a maze that is that pacman stage.

Plus, the 3DS version is going to be a watered-down version of the Wii U regardless, so to withhold content from “real” version just to make the “lite” version more appealing is silly (to me).

        • they arent removing anything; they just arent adding it.

  • Triplicity

Yoshi with its crazy digestion system, Kirby with its limitless stomach capabilities and Pacman the ancestor of eating in gaming lol.^_^
