Might as well just wait until the retail release of the second season content, right?

    • Michael Kelehan

At which point you might as well wait for the third?

  • Jadfish

never have I seen one game recieve so much support from its developers (both of them) and players, especially when it had such a rocky start on the Xbox One.
If I were to ever get an Xbone, it would definitely get into KI.

    • zferolie

skullgirls has gotten almost as much support as KI. It’s a shame they had all that publisher crap at the start.

That being said, I am really liking how much love they are giving KI. I wouldn’t have even cared for KI if they haven’t

      • Jadfish

Credit where credit is due – KI and Skullgirls are the first western developed (proper) fighting games where it feels “right” to hit your opponent.
Mortal Kombat and Injustice just doesn’t sit well with me for that alone. It’s a little hard to explain.

I was waiting for a retail release, will probably wait till season 2 is out too.

  • eilegz

and people complain about capcom dlc policy… this its beyond retired…

i guess when they sort it out and have a complete edition then we see if its worth it…

    • Vesperion

KI was a rushed game for the Xbox One launch. Unlike Persona, Street Fighter, and Blazblue the characters weren’t done when the game was released

      • I don’t think you can call it “rushed” when it was always meant to be worked on and evolved over time.

It’s either this or the aforementioned stupid Capcom-style way of doing it, where you rerelease the same game with more content at full price.

Trust me, the piecemeal, in-game purchase model works just fine for fighting games.

        • Vesperion

I don’t mean it as though it were a incomplete game, but Microsoft totally pushed for it. i mean the game was made in like 11 months, even Double Helix said they wanted more time to work on it.

I can’t say i’m really all into the free to play model either. The f2p Soulcalibur wasn’t very good. Tekken Revolution was pretty neat, but i could just pop in Tekken Tag instead. I rather have just had the complete game with DOA.

Free to play can be good and bad at the same time. It’s like a big demo they seems great for the causal players, or if you just wanna try it. It’s still a ongoing experiment.

  • ThatGuy3190_7

Correct me if I’m wrong but did buyers literally spend over $40 worth of DLC of a game and the company announced that it will be releasing a physical copy of the game WITH the DLC stuff already on there for $20?

    • Vesperion

The full game was always $20. No one said if this retail disc will even have all of the DLC besides TJ Combo who’s from season 2

      • ThatGuy3190_7

“Titled Killer Instinct: Combo Breaker Pack, the package will contain the first season’s fighters.” I think that is all of the first season’s DLC, with the inclusion of TJ Combo. And I remembered them making announcements of buying individual characters or the whole season 1 for a select price. I don’t recall the prices though.

        • IzzyMcFizzy

The Combo Breaker Pack in digital was always $19.99, its just the fighters and levels, which is what this physical release is.

You’re thinking of the digital Ultimate Bundle, which includes other character costumes, accessories, and the original KI for $39.99.

    • ineedgames

The game by it self is $20, The $40 one comes with all of the costumes and the Original Version of Killer Instinct.

  • E.T.993

Did Teltale Games work on this? *bum bum tss*

    • ElAbuelo69

Sorry if I’m sounding ignorant…but could you explain the joke? I’m genuinely curious lol

      • darke

Telltale Games is known for their episodic point-and-click adventure titles, all in the form of “Game Name: Episode X”, like “The Walking Dead: Episode 1” and so on.

  • Stephen Mc Devitt

Couldn’t they just wait ’til Season 2 is complete?

    • The Watcher

In theory yes. But if there is a Season 3 planned we will be right back to the same question.

    • Skode

Guess they thought getting a retail disc out would be the ideal way to help sell Season 2 in bigger droves?

I think we need to remember Season 1 was a different dev team from Season 2.

  • Quiet Gear Soild

Yall might as well as wait for the full package.
    Call it.

  • leingod

I love KI, but I’d rather get a physical version when the game’s full. I guess this was made for the Xbox One launch in the rest of the world.
