By Ishaan . August 6, 2014 . 8:28am

Europe is getting the Mercedes-Benz DLC for Mario Kart 8 on the same date as Japan—August 27th. The free DLC will add the Silver Arrow from the 1930s, the 300 SL Roadster from the 1950s and the Mercedes-Benz GLA to the game.

Update: Nintendo of America have announced that North America will get the DLC on the 27th as well.

In addition, on the same day, a software update will be made available for Mario Kart 8, and will feature improvements the game, one of these being the ability to display a course map on the TV during races.

Sorry but this looks like ass because it clashes too much with the games art direction IMO.

    • Postnjam

Eh, it’s free and it comes with improvements to the game such as map on the TV.

    • Namuro

Then don’t get it. Problem’s solved, and everyone’s happy.

    • HarakiriKami

They look like toy car mercedes. Which is hilarious lol.

IMO the only thing that clashes with the art style is the horse carriage kart.

      Silver Arrow looks beast though

  • Snorlaxation

I’m not really feeling it, but at the same time, I wouldn’t turn it down. It’s nice to have options.

  • YouGusta

Never know Nintendo allow DLC for their first party games.

    • Namuro

They’ve been doing that for a while now…

      Toad, you should know better.

      • YouGusta

More reason to hate Nintendo, just like my dp.

    • D-Omen

Dude, it’s been two years since the NSMB2 DLC. That was paid, even.

    • super luigi u, mario golf, fire emblem awakening, nsmb2..

  • Namuro

Somehow I don’t think anyone else will look as good driving the Silver Arrow as Luigi does. It’s like it was made for him. LOL

  • bigstew

its suprising not the dlc but the fact they are doing updates, usually their to cheap to fix problems, it would be nice if they toned down the punishing cpu’s though

    • since when? 7 got patched, skyward sword got patched, wii fit u got patched, pikmin 3 got patched, nsmbu..

    • HarakiriKami

Nintendo’s been patching games since the GameBoy Advance with Ruby and Sapphire (You’d go to a kiosk set up your link cable and get a free shiny mon and an update that fixed the berry save and time glitch)

The DS, Wii had patch fixes too. And there have been a myriad of patches on the 3DS and Wii U as well. Perhaps you should pay attention to what Nintendo actually does?

Most of the time their games dont even need patches as they come complete with out bugs or errors.

They patched in controller support for Pikmin 3 and NSMBU as well

  • SetzerGabbiani

This is Nintendo’s moneymaker, I’m not surprised that they are doing partnerships like this to expand and attract diverse audiences. I’m sure Mercedes paid a decent amount for the opportunity. Just look at how many things Monster Hunter promotes in Japan through special DLC.

  • Hey I welcome it and its FREE afterall also comes with excellent updates. Hopefully the next one is meatier with content like say characters or even better tracks.

  • Kevin

This looks crazy satisfying, even being such a simple add on it feels like it does so much more. I don’t know what it is that makes this entertaining to look at but it works.

  • Musashi234

It still wont make me buy a Mercedes lol.

  • leingod

If only this meant “real” DLC was on the way…

I’d totally be in for more remade SNES tracks and characters.
