Chou Dengeki Stryker To Get All-Ages Steam Release

By Ishaan . August 8, 2014 . 10:00pm

An all-ages version of Overdrive’s Chou Dengeki Stryker is being prepared for release on Steam, MangaGamer announced today. The superhero-themed visual novel was originally published in English in 2012.

The Steam version of the game will be the same as the regular version, with the exception of erotic scenes, which will be removed to accommodate a Steam release.

A release date for the game has not yet been announced.

Good luck with that… hmmm? is that Kyosuke from “The Devil in G-String”, in your avatar?

      • Wishful thinking. Hard to censor when most of it is GAHAHAHA and raep.

        And yes its Kyosuke.

  • PenguinPlayer

Aw, hell yeah. Dengeki Stryker is cool as hell, I bought the original one. Will buy this one too on Steam and check out the extra stories, the shoved in sex scenes never felt right for me anyway.

    • biskmater

Shoved in? if memory serves most of them were placed in a lull in the story for all routes (and the third one had none) I think you are being be a bit harsh on this one, Plus the steel saga didn’t have them until after the credits, and I haven’t gotten through the Love Saga so I would not know there. Same goes for Light Saga.

  • I will support this though I haven’t much of a clue about it (o.o; )

  • CirnoLakes

I love being a PC gamer!

  • Denta

I hope censoring won’t become a trend with the Steams visual novel releases. And let´s be honest, those erotic scenes are the point in (most of) theese games.

    • Bacon_n_Lettuce

Steam doesn’t allow erotic content on their platform, so unfortunately this indeed will be a trend. You can always try manga gamer or use fan translations for the original versions, though.

      • Pyrotek85

I think it’s silly that they don’t allow erotic content but the goriest or most violent games are OK.

        • darke

Welcome to double standards. It’s stupid, and in this instance is mostly America’s fault, but it happens the world over.

          • Pyrotek85

What’s ridiculous is that America produces and consumes a crapload of porn, and a lot of advertising in general is sexualized too. It’s like they only want to pretend that they don’t like it. Double standards indeed.

I honestly won’t mind as long as we get the option to get the original 18+ content, which judging at how MG has been rolling lately, we will (see: eden* and eden* plus mosaic, plus not by them, but it seems that Grisaia will get the option to download the 18+ content outside from Steam too). As for your second point… eh, I don’t agree, somewhat. Some VNs, sure, but there are others that work even better without 18+ content.

  • Shippoyasha

I hope they have a non-Steam release with the erotic content then.

    • darkbartz

It’s already out for a while now.

  • Raze

This game doesn’t really need H-scenes really

Liked Mirror more than Stryker here….

  • Randgriz

That character stack image reminds me alot of Final Fantasy Type-0’s key art.

  • I sure as hell won’t be buying an all ages visual novel if the uncensored version is available, but this is cool for everyone who has a problem with the sex scenes. I doubt MangaGamer would ever do it, but I hope they don’t end up skipping on an adult version in favor of an all ages version of a game in the future.

The reporting on these games always gives me mixed feelings. It’s like everyone wants to play up the all ages games and dismiss the eroges just because of the sex. A damn shame, especially since eroge and nukiges help fund non h-games, or all ages version. Capsule Computers is probably the only site I know of the unabashedly reports on eroges.

    • chibidw

I’ll give it a week before someone takes the steam version and mods them back in anyway.

      • There’s no reason to. The adult version is already available. I don’t care if Steam gets All Ages version and I understand why they don’t want eroge on the platform. I just don’t want publishers to skip on Adult versions of games in favor of All Ages versions. My other gripe is how websites negatively report on adult games, but praise or push for all ages versions.

while censored content sucks. I hope all games on pc, console, or handheld have an option to turn off or at least auto-skip sexual content on video games. I love playing games with my father (old gamer, I’m very proud to him). this feature might help avoid some embarassing and awkward moments. my father thinks headshot, bloodsplatter or gore was okay. but sex scene…. no. this reminds me about playing wolfenstein: new order with him. “look dad! an oldschool shooter” and then a sex scene few hours later. LOL…

    • friendly neighborhood_dude

      I totally agree with you.
I mean I know some VNs that doesn’t have anything to do with sex, but always ALWAYS ends up with a dozen erotic scenes :(
And unfortunately, most of the time, the ero parts destroy all pacing, and ruin the characters.

  • Hopefully, they replace the scenes instead of cutting them entirely. In my experience, that works a lot better than just cutting out scenes but still implying it happened.

If this gives me a chance for that tv series though, I’m all for it.

  • Razzlero

Wonder how long it will be before someone creates a patch for the steam version to put the h scenes back in. :p

  • IS | 桂木

    I fucking LOVE Dengeki Stryker

  • Astraea’s Eyebrow

I really liked this game a lot. The sex scenes didn’t really bother me because sex wasn’t super important to the story, distasteful or there because “sex hehe lol fap fap”. I’m not really a fan of sex romps I play VN’s for the story and this one had an amazing story for sure!

  • Arcade Bumstead

All I know about this game is Maasaki Endoh and that’s plenty.

  • Robert Hendrie

    Kira Kira next please

  • Jeremy Lafferty

I still don’t understand the reason steam won’t allow 18+ releases. You mean we can mutilate and blow people up in a fountain of blood and gore, but they can’t show a few pictures of anime girls in sexual situations?
