Just like they did with the first Toukiden, Koei Tecmo have released a promotional anime video for Toukiden Extreme. You can watch this below.

Toukiden Extreme will be released for PSP and PlayStation Vita in Japan on August 28th. The game has not been announced for western release yet.

  • I really like these promotional anime.

Maybe if they start a full blown anime series, they will sell more copies… the “Yokai Watch method”.

I expect Japanese publishers to get real aggressive about ripping off that model sooner or later. I mean, the vast gulf in success between Yokai Watch 2 and everything else on the charts is alarming, and I’m sure everyone knows it. A lot of people are going to try to close that gap.

    • Level-5 are brilliant at cross media projects. If Koei Tecmo had planned it from the start – yes, it could work. How it is now… I can’t see it working. The anime would become too standardised and -slightly- lose the appeal of the game.

If the anime was like a prequel to the series then it could work, in my opinion.

  • Vash bane

if this became a anime …I don’t think it’ll be that good but don’t get me wrong this looks cool and all but…its just normal (if that makes any sense)

  • Kornelious

Looks a lot better than the first, seems like there will be human antagonists this time around, and I’m even more interested in the characters…..But even more let down that we can’t romance them X(

Hope this gets localized soon :)

    • Armageddon

I think that having no romance is a good thing at times. Since, romance can be a bit of a turn off at times.

      • Jadfish

yeah it needs be to be done right. Forcing it into a game usually results in disasters, but having to tune the game to include romances would probably take too much focus away from the core game.

I’m also tired of japanese games where “GIRLS” is the main focus. I love some those games due to their gameplay, but it sometimes feels annoying to have cute girls shown down my throat. The Atelier games (Rorona, Totori and Meruru in my case) are excellent in their own right.
