I don’t know if it is still on sale, but I picked up Growlanser for PSP for 4.99 on the last sale, and I have been loving the game. The visuals aren’t very good, but the characters design and the characters themselves are excellent as well as the game play. If you like SRPGs, it is a very unique take on the genre.

It’s the first time I’ve played the Growlanser series, and I hate that I didn’t support it when it first came out as the series is most likely dead at this point, but for anyone interested, I strongly strongly recommend them.

    • Kaetsu

Front Mission 3 is also on sale.
EDIT: NVM it’s not on sale any more :/ but it’s still 6 dollars

    • otakumike

I felt the same until I got to one fight that seems like you need pure luck to win. It sucks because I was really enjoying it. :(

      • Brimfyre

How far into it were you? I felt that way at first, but once you realize it is truly an SRPG, and where you place your characters and have them actually enter the battle makes a difference.

The Equip and Ability system takes a while to get used to to, but you can make some really interesting character builds by leveling up certain abilities and equips.

      • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

No fight in Growlanser was luck based, if you mean the one where you’ve to prevent the angel from fleeing I promise you, if you set up everyone properly the fight isn’t luck based~.

That’s one thing that really impressed me about the game mechanic’s, if you tinker enough with what every character excels at, you can end up with really powerful teams~.

    • Janrabbit

Never even seen this game. Gunna give it a go though, looks pretty decent.

  • Afternoon Intergalactic

I’m tempted by BB:CP, but I really don’t have the time to learn another game, especially since P4U2 is just around the corner. I was alright at CS:EX, but wasn’t at the level that I wanted to be.

However, I’ll be double dipping for Tales of Symphonia Chronicles, to play it on my PS3 at that price is worth buying the game again.

    • mikanko

Wanting to play multiple arcsys games at a halfway decent level can be kinda tough on a limited schedule. With UNI being my current favorite game I’m in a bit of a similar dilemma as to how much I want the new Persona immediately when it comes out, or if I’ll try to keep up with CP.

For what it’s worth I think CP is the most approachable entry in BB. The general match pace in CP is a bit faster, and the combos don’t feel like they need to last forever like earlier BBs. Overdrive also helps a bit in letting you improvise with use of your burst.

      • Afternoon Intergalactic

I also play UNIEL, and it took quite a while before I progressed to the point of being competitive at my local scene. I just dont feel like I can do it again so soon, especially for BB which, as you mentioned, initially felt really slow and different (my experience with csex).

The good thing about p4u2 is that the system from what I have seen has not been changed much, so picking it back up should be easy. And then there is ggxrd to worry about…

  • Sweet, love anime

  • GamerLegend

    Needs more anime.

    • DyLaN

Needs more game based on anime that isn’t the big 3.

  • Jorge

    Chronicles only $7.50!? SOLD

  • Tales of Symphonia Chronicles at that price!? Holy shit

  • Weeb

3 bucks for Mamorukun Curse? That’s a steal for one of the best shmups on PSN.

  • LightOtaku

Why does it have to be US only?, would’ve bought BB:CP in an instant.

    • Milewide

Is it even available in your country, though? It’s not for sale where I live, Sweden. So I had to buy it off US psn either way =/

      • LightOtaku

Yeah it’s currently £28.99 on UK PSN.

        • colorblindnightmare

create a us psn acct. Shouldn’t be to hard

        • Janrabbit

Still not a bad price for a digital game. I thought it was more…….. time to get mah BB on. Is the netcode good does anybody know?

  • SlickRoach

Seeing as how 90% of the games I (and assumingly most people on this site) play are anime style or JRPGs I’m loving this sale. Might pick up Tales of Symphonia to see what the hypes all about, hopefully it won’t be as disappointing as the Persona series was/is. Pirate Warriors 2 has also been on my wishlist for a while too.

    • ShinNeoGranzon

Symphonia was originally a Gamecube game, and Symphonia DoTNW a Wii game, so don’t expect anything super amazing. The original Symphonia does have a pretty good story though once things pick up

    • Pedro Furtado

What JRPGs do you usually like?
I did not enjoy Symphonia much, but I didn’t play it for too long.

      • Let me guess, you stopped playing when you thought it ended at the Tower of Salvation.

    • bigstew

I played both, only finished the wii version, the gamecube was in line with the older ones were grinding was long and unenjoyable and the last boss was ridiculously hard, story wise its ok but time wise their should be other games to invest that much time in. vesperia is the best one and a great starter to the tales series, xillia’s are good, abyss is ok also 3ds version

      • lackofstyle

        why is abyss only ok?

    • Princess_Eevee9

Tales of Symphonia is a great game hope you enjoy it. I suggest starting with Phantasia if you don’t mind playing off an emulator.

    • MinakoArisato

      Now you made me curious.
Would you please tell me why Persona disappointed you?

      • SlickRoach

Well I’m a big fan of JRPGs and after all the ridiculous hype Persona gets I found it mediocre at best, at least after 2. Seeing as I really like SMT games Persona 3+4 just felt like watered down versions of a SMT game except with a more cheerful disposition and a greater emphasis on the personalities of characters I don’t care about. While many people praise the Social Link system I just found it to be a waste of time since if I wanted to play a VN like Katawa Shoujo I’d just play that instead. It also felt like forever between the segments of doing activities and actually fighting which bored me a lot among other things.

        • MinakoArisato

So you’re no ‘Story-Gamer” but more like, I wanna kill monsters so let me kill already? I see, well, then it makes sense, that you don’t like the latest Persona-titles, because they emphasize clearly on storytelling.
But I don’t think that the hype is ridiculous, if a game is getting hyped, then that game clearly deserved it.

Sure, you don’t like Persona, which is perfectly fine, but that doesn’t necessarily mean, that Persona is bad, just because it handled the game differently from the rest. Surely you kept that in mind when writing your comment, but I just wanted to point that out.
Well, thanks for answering and happy gaming^^

  • Kayseur

That’s a nice sale, I would’ve picked up BBCP instantly for this PS+ price… if I didn’t already have it, and wasn’t living in EU.

  • Quizler

I might just buy P3FES because i need an excuse to play it again.

  • XaviIniesta

I’ve been waiting for Persona 3 FES going on sale again. Won’t miss it this time. =p
I’ll pick up Tales of Symphonia Chronicles as well.

  • Milewide

I love Izayoi but I can’t come to grips with her movements in gain arts mode. That, and her name sounds an awful lot like mikkayoi which means hangover in Japanese. Why?!

    • friendly neighborhood_dude

Isn’t that the name of the legendary weapon she uses?

    • TheBlackRabbit

im sorry friend i think it might just be you. oh and practice…..A LOT

  • z_merquise

I’m a fan of Fist of the North Star but for some reason wasn’t interested much in Ken’s Rage but in a cheap price, I want to try it.

    Is the game good overall?

    • Shippoyasha

It’s pretty decent. Though some players preferred how the first Ken’s Rage told the story. But they improved most elements of the gameplay with this version.

  • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

I can’t fathom why they chose to put on discount CSE for PSV instead of CP. That’s just retarded. Other than that, really good deals all around~.

    • mikanko

They’re likely not supposed to put something on sale that came out as recently as Vita CP.

      • Byron Kerrison II

        That’s what I was thinking.

  • Alexander Marquis Starkey

You bastards…I don’t have the money for ToS Chronicles and OPPW2 right now!

  • Mean while at Europe… “happy fps sales”
    Yeyh………………….. (morbid silence)

    • I bought Mind Zero for £10 and that was on sale…still is now.

      • Have you played it? If so, how is it?

        • Played a good 14 hours of it. It isn’t all that good. The plot doesn’t even progress all that much even after 5 chapters. It’s all “let’s find out why we have MIND” or “who are these people”or “let’s close these gates”. Then there are these two detective investigating various of places. The superior always bitter about finding nothing and use the same line “I seen these kids before, it couldn’t be a coincidence” then fuck right off to the next location. It’s been going on for like 5 chapters now. Oh yeah the other detective is just like Adachi lol…I’m really serious.

As for the game system itself, It would have been much more easier if each character has their own set of attacks but nooooo—we have to grind spell cards and upgrade them to make them effective enough. Even so you can get through an entire dungeon by auto-attacking if you’re strong enough which is a shame because it get quiet boring after a while. It doesn’t help that each dungeon gets longer and longer by each chapter so it gets really repetitive.

          shit that bugs me:

          – Character models are horrible. This could easily be a PSX game.

          – No idea why there’s two different art style in the game (three if you include the model itself).

          – soundtrack suck.

          – English dub is better than I thought it would be but the general store NPC, my god he sound annoying.

          – Most if not all of the side-quest are fetch-quest or just go to a certain area of a dungeon.

          – Loading time is long

For a £10, I guess it’s worth it. I heard the ending is some sort of cliffhanger or at least suggest there would be a sequel.

          • Thanks for that detailed review, Kaishou. I’ll probably wait for it to become cheaper – the plot just sounds awful. Though the Adachi-like character sounds interesting, though.

I’ll look to spend my money on either Lunar Silver Star Harmony or Z.H.P. (Just waiting on a sale to get both.)

          • joemari5

PLEASE DO NOT BUY THE LUNAR GAME! It has looooooooooong loading screens which bored me so much that i didn’t bother finishing it. The psx version is still better except for the visuals.

      • yeah but… I dont buy Eng-Dub-Only games. =(

        • Satoshi Ookami

          Mind Zero has dual audio.

        • I’m sorry if English dub isn’t master race. However the game is dual audio.

          [edit – yeah…please don’t reply to me]

  • Princess_Eevee9

15$ For Pirate Warriors 2? Hell yes.

  • Lester Paredes

So tempted to get Chrono Phantasma on PS3…

  • Altin

    Oh yeah, Ys I & II :D

  • Keiji Johnson

Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure: All Star Battle for $24? YES! YES! YES! :D

  • Ric Vazquez

Good time to grab 1 or 2 of these

  • Stop tempting me! I’m trying to save money Dx

  • Anontastic

    >Blazblue CP for PS3 but not Vita on sale

    Dammit, man! What gives?!

  • notforsale

Tales of Symphonia still cost like 50 dollars in Australia, *sigh* :( ……

  • Kornelious

Should probably take this chance to at least get the only Ys game I don’t have……
