Changing The Difficulty In Super Smash Bros. Will Have Other Effects, Too

By Ishaan . August 25, 2014 . 9:00am

Earlier in the month, we reported that Classic Mode in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS has a difficulty slider similar to the one in Kid Icarus: Uprising. Last night on Miiverse, director Masahiro Sakurai talked about the slider, as well as the map that you use to find your opponents.

“In Classic mode, you challenge multiple stages en route to a climactic final battle,” Sakurai wrote. “The more gold you put onto the Fiend’s Scale, the harder the battles will be. In return, your rewards will get better and more abundant. The best way to earn gold fast is to win Classic battles on higher intensity.”

It also sounds like the Intensity feature could have effects beyond giving you greater rewards. Sakurai hints that it may have different outcomes on the route map in Classic Mode.

In a follow-up comment, Sakurai added: “In Classic mode, you can choose your next challenge on the route map. Looks like Master Hand is waiting at the end, but perhaps something might change if you raise the intensity…?!”

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS will be available this October.

Increasing the difficulty lets you fight Master Foot and Crazy Foot as well.

    I’m kidding.

Lets not forget loose foot and baked kevin

Then Master Body and Crazy Head,
Highest Intensity will have them gattai into a giant super boss.

      Crazy Master.

      • Don’t forget the lowest intensity Boss fight: Holding Hand!

          You sir ARE A GENIUS

Well obviously on higher intensity you can fight Crazy Hand. But I wonder if that’s the extent of it. Just imagine, reaching the end at max difficulty and then have to fight Intense Taboo from Brawl. XD

      Tabuu; Intense
      drops controller

        Don’t drop your 3DS!

I just hope they put more difficult AI. Level 9’s are always too easy and predictable. They always walk right into a charged smash, unlike a human. I also hope we get this in 2014 and the multiplayer works on wiiU.

Interesting, so it seems that the battles you fight will change depending how much intensity (difficulty). It will have other effects as well.
