The Nintendo 3DS can be used as a controller for the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros., reveals a report from NintendoWorldReport.

Note that you’ll need to own both versions of the game for this option to be available, so just owning one version even if you own both systems won’t work.

Super Smash Bros.for 3DS will be available October 3rd. The Wii U version will follow later this holiday.
