The Pokémon Trading Card Game Is Coming To iPad This Week

By Ishaan . September 29, 2014 . 4:30pm

This morning, The Pokémon Company launched the Pokémon TCG Online app for the iPad and iPad Mini in the United Kingdom, France, New Zealand and Europe. Tomorrow, September 30th, the app will be launch in the U.S., followed by other markets in America, Europe, Asia and Africa later in the week. (It’s already available in Canada.)

The app will be free-to-play and will allow you to play the online version of the Pokémon Trading Card Game on your iOS device, as long as you have access to a Wi-Fi connection or your device’s Internet data plan.

The app will provide a similar experience to the TCG on PC and Mac, and your digital card collection will follow you across whatever device you’re playing on. To incentivize players to begin using the iPad app, The Pokémon Company will give TCG Online players a number of free decks to get started.

Additionally, players that purchase physical theme decks, booster packs or other Pokémon TCG products will also receive a code card that unlocks digital cards for the TCG Online game.

Since Hudson was absorbed by Konami, I wonder if it’s still possible. Or maybe GF can make it themselves and actually localize it this time. The 1st game was fun.

It’s a shame we never got the sequel. It’s also a shame that we are never again likely to see TCG video games as packaged products (outside of Yu-Gi-Oh).

I play on the Mac client all the time. It`s a great way to test decks before having to invest in physical cards or just et some practice.

  • FreeLancers

they need to do this with yugioh. And create a duel disk to fit your ipad tablet.

  • ddh819

anyone know if the pc client works well with a win8 touchscreen tablet?

    • I’ll be playing on a Surface Pro 3, am downloading now, and it says the input controls are keyboard and mouse. It may work with a touch screen though, hopefully they follow how Hearthstone designed controls.
