Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Reaches North America On November 21st

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will launch in North America on November 21st, Nintendo announced this morning. That’s a couple of weeks prior to its European release on December 5th.

 

In North America, the game will cost $60, and will be compatible with Nintendo’s amiibo figurines, which go for $13 a pop. 12 of these figurines will be available on launch day, with another six scheduled for release in December.

 

The first 12 amiibos include: Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Link, Fox, Samus, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Pikachu, Kirby and Marth. The second wave that launches in December includes Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Little Mac, Pit and Captain Falcon.

 

amiibo figurines will unlock special versions of their respective characters within the game. These figurines will also be compatible with other Nintendo games, including Mario Kart 8, Yoshi’s Woolly World and Mario Party 10.

 

Meanwhile, Nintendo have also shared details on the Gamecube controller compatibility. The Wii U adapter that allows you to use Gamecube or Wavebird controllers with Smash will cost $20. Standalone Gamecube controllers with the game’s logo on them will cost $30 each. Finally, a bundle containing Smash, an adapter (which supports up to four controllers) and a Gamecube controller will cost $100.
