Atelier Shallie Reaches 80,000 Shipped Between Japan And Asia

In a recent earnings report, Koei Tecmo revealed that they have shipped 200,000 units of Toukiden: Kiwami across Japan and other Asian territories on PSP and PS Vita.

Additionally, the company also revealed that Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea has shipped 80,000 units between Japan and Asia.

Going forward, the company says, it plans to use both existing and new I.P., and expand it across a variety of media, including videogames, animation, manga, movies and more.

One example of this multimedia approach is the new Fatal Frame for Wii U, which is developed and published by Tecmo and Nintendo respectively, while movie and novel projects are being handled by Kadokawa in parallel.

Meanwhile, Koei Tecmo plan to release Atelier Shallie in the West this March.

  • Nice. I look forward to what they have in mind, especially as for how that’ll show in the Atelier series and whatever new things may come~.

“Meanwhile, Koei Tecmo plan to release Atelier Shallie in the West this January.”

Shallie comes out in March and not January btw… What comes out in January is Ayesha Plus. I wish Shallie comes out in January too though. :(

For Koei Tecmo’s sake, I hope things go better for their other properties … The game did about as well as a Wii U Fatal Frame could, but it the push didn’t elevate the property and the film flopped. I can see Tokiden getting a TV anime.

I can see Toukiden expanding a lot actually. Including a console version.

  • DesmaX

Nice to see that the game had legs

    • CirnoTheStrongest

I think it nearly doubled its first-week sales. Probably word of mouth helped it

  • ivanchu77

It seems Shallie ins´t doing THAT bad after all, i´m glad :)

    • ShadowJetX

Its pretty average. Its not Arland numbers, but its fairly average.

      • It’s on the higher end of what they were doing during the Iris days. And they still have the Christmas/New Year season, which even in Japan can be significant. It sounds like Gust is doing okay.

Though yes, those aren’t Meruru numbers, specifically.

        • ReidHershel

Hey SpaceDrake! Haven’t seen you around here in a while.
You guys at Carpe Fulgur translating anything right now?

          • pekikuubik

            They went TitS up.

  • Mark Lengod

So happy to read this, after the abysmal sales on the first weeks!

Maybe we could have another game to conclude Linca and Wilbell’s plot, in the end.

  • Kornelious

Sweet, And once it releases in the west it’ll sell double that!……Well maybe not that much but I’m sure it’ll do great :P

  • Yan Zhao

I hope when this trilogy concludes, they’ll go back to making Iris or Mana Khemia style games, without the time constrains.

  • Satoshi Ookami

Number of shipped units… Prepare to be doubled once it comes in west.

  • Aristides

Now all we need is physical Vita carts for their + games in the West and they’ll rake in even more cash =D. Seriously, I’m running out of space X_X lol

  • I can’t wait for this one. It looks so nice! I’ve been waiting for them to get out of that “Dusk” series forever – the color scheme of this one has automatically made everything 100% nicer-looking than the too-brown entries, even if technically, it’s probably on par with Escha & Logy.

Also, I wonder what they’ll someday return to their old Rygar IP. I quite liked the PS2/Wii version that came out. Even if it is really monotonous nowadays to play. I’d like someone to take another crack at it though.

  • DyLaN

I definitely don’t mind another anime adaptation of Atelier as I enjoyed Atelier E&L anime. Preferably with better budget and slightly longer episodes though.

    • Zoozbuh

Ooooh Ciel no Surge anime please, that would be perfect! I still haven’t gotten around to playing Ar noSurge, or finishing the Ciel no Surge summary :(

I would love an Atelier manga
