By Ishaan . November 18, 2014 . 12:31pm

In celebration of the opening of a new Pokémon Center in Tokyo, The Pokémon Company is distributing a Shiny Charizard to Japanese players that show up at the venue.

From December 12th – January 16th, both a Shiny Charizard (holding Charizardite Y) and a Shiny Pikachu will be distributed to visitors. The two will be made available at alternating hours throughout the day, each day, from 10 am to 8 pm.

In order to avail the two Shinies, visitors will need to bring their 3DS and copy of Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire.

Can you get the shinies if you have ORAS?

      Did you read the article?

Are there even enough Japanese viewers here to justify this salt in our wounds? I can import games; I can’t import Tokyo.

Have you tried our Gojira-Express service? There will be mayhem and property damage, but for just a small fee, we can ship the entire country with our faithful monster island workers in 2-3 days! ^_^
(Note: Not responsible for MUTO involvement, Kaiju battles, or destruction of any military enforcement! ) ^w^

What the hell does this have to do with the topic, you stupid bot.

I’ll have you know good sir, I am NOT a bot! -patches digital oil leak- Definitely, not a bot >_> Beep boop

          • AuraGuyChris

Uh… Ignoring that response, I suppose I shall rephrase that better.

What does that have anything to do with this?

          • ishyg

The first guy said he can’t import Tokyo. I guess you had a “whoosh” moment? I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and just think the guy has a bad sense of humor.

No, I can’t. You just didn’t get the joke. Sorry.

            Basically this^

          • ishyg

            High five.

I guess he’s too salty to take a joke. Hey @AuraGuyChris:disqus, give me your friend code, I’ll trade you the Charizard when I get it.

    • AuraGuyChris

No. There aren’t just enough plushies to sell at the stores.

    • ishyg

      I am one. :D

  • Vallen

And I got excited for no reason thinking this was an Western event

Meanwhile everywhere else in the world…

Honestly, I dislike how the Pokemon Company plays favorites with Japan nearly all the damn time with those exclusives and never bother to use Wi-Fi gifts for everyone else. The Shiny Jirachi is more of an insult to us since that one is technically impossible to legitimately own without hacking.

Sure, sure, Pokemon has assimilated with Japanese culture, but other parts of the world show such strong devotion as well.

When it comes down to truly rare pokemon like Celebi, Diancie, Jirachi as examples yes its not fair but a shiny version of a starter or otherwise reasonably easy to obtain pokemon then I dont see what the fuss is about.

      • ehtnah

“the fuss” is about GF being soooooOOOOo unfair. you have bought your pokemon x/y? so you should have the right to have every event that they release. unless the game is waAAAAay cheaper because we have an uncompleted game…..
and even if it’s an easy to find pokemon, an event has always something like a special attack, that a regular pokemon will not have.

    N E P S T A T I O N!!!
Hello and welcome to this weeks Nepstation!!! Today’s headline: economics!

In Japan, the value of a Shiny Charizard and Shiny Pikachu has dropped significally in Shiny market. Many Pokemon fans and shiny hunters are upset, both because of the easy acces of these two valuable pokemon and because of the limited acces to these shinies.
As the availability of these shinie is increadibly limited compared to a Wi-FI event, the value of these two shinies arent expected to drop exponentially, however, frustration among shiny farmers is indeed sure to rise.

Looking back a little, the value of Shiny Beldum’s and it’s evolutionary line has dropped imensely due to the upcoming distribution of shiny Beldums in time with the release of Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. This of course frustrated many shiny farmers who invested in a Shiny Metagross.

Looking at the GTS, the value drop of Shiny Pokemon caught by fishing in the Kalos region still continues. Due to the chain fishing method introduced in X and Y, many trainers have been able to increase their collection of shiny pokemon, but the trade value of those pokemon has decreased this past year.

    And now, sports!

    • powerlessbump

      Tell me about the sports.

    • Red Antares

You get my likes for the Nepstation reference. :D

  • ishyg

YAY! Another event pokemon to trade for those elusive legendaries.

JK I’m keeping these to myself.

  • Meloku

And Japan, once again, enjoys something the West can’t have.

    • Aemette

Where can you get that stone? I thought I had them all but I guess not. Please tell me! I’m willing to trade a shiny for it!

      • Unless you have pokemon y or at an event like this, its physically impossible

        • Aemette

I have Pokemon X! That’s so unfair! Damn you Nintendo! Are you willing to trade for it? I have a Sassy Emolga.

      • Keksus

Every owner of a western copy of X and Y got a free Bullshitnite.

        • Aemette

D: What!? I live in the western countries yet I got no Bullshitnite. Was it a GameStop exclusive? Come on, trade me please! You like Shiny Bidoofs? I got like 2 of em!

  • justXaXnobody

WOO! Luckily for me I am actually going to be in Tokyo a few days before this ends!!

  • rurin

….Where exactly is the new Pokemon Center so I can actually go to it…? Tokyo is huge.
