Square Enix Will Look To Fan Feedback For Theatrhythm: Dragon Quest DLC

Theatrhythm: Dragon Quest will contain over 60 musical tracks, producer Ichiro Hazama confirmed in an interview with a Japanese magazine. He added that there will be roughly 5-6 songs from each mainline Dragon Quest game. (Thanks, Game Jouhou)

Following the game’s launch in Japan, Square Enix will add downloadable tracks to Theatrhythm: Dragon Quest, just as they’ve been doing with Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call. The development team will look to user feedback to determine which songs will be added as DLC.

Given how popular Dragon Quest is in Japan, it’s likely that we’ll see a large number of DLC tracks released for the game. For reference, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call came with 221 songs included at launch, and through DLC it now has over 300 tracks. Downloadable content for the game is still ongoing.

Theatrhythm: Dragon Quest will be released in Japan on March 26th.

Food for thought:

Last year, Siliconera spoke with Square Enix’s Noriyoshi Fujimoto and Yuu Miyake, who have been leading the charge in bringing the Dragon Quest games to mobile. At the time, Fujimoto and Miyake said that while localizing Dragon Quest VII—which has a large amount of text—might not be feasible for the company, they would consider localizing Rocket Slime 3, which had considerably less text. By that logic, Theatrhythm: Dragon Quest would make a good candidate for localization, too, especially since it captures the spirit of Dragon Quest more effectively than a Rocket Slime game.
