Three years after the original announcement, it’s finally happening. MMORPG Blade & Soul is coming to North America and Europe this Winter, NCSoft have announced. The game was released in Asia in mid-2012.
Blade & Soul is a martial arts RPG, and involves a “Wuxia” storyline, where players fight to avenge the death of their master. “Wuxia” literally means “martial hero” and refers to a broad genre of Chinese fiction concerning martial artists in ancient China.
Blade & Soul will feature action-based combat and NCSoft will be using a beta test later this year to balance the game for the West. Selected fans who sign up on the game’s official site will be given access to the closed beta, which is planned for autumn of 2015 in Europe and North America.
Blade & Soul will be fully localized into English, German, and French, including voice-over work in each of those languages. More details on the game, including monetization models, will be revealed this Summer.
