New Simpsons game in the development?

By Spencer . March 26, 2007 . 1:30pm

Spotted on various retailers lists is a new Simpsons game aptly called “The Simpsons Game”. Electronic Arts is listed as the publisher and the tentatively titled game is going to make appearances on the Nintendo DS, Playstation 3, Playstation 2, Xbox 360, PSP and Wii. Expectations for a Simpsons game are higher than the days when Acclaim had the license, can a next generation Simpsons experience top Hit and Run? I’m particularly interested in the Wii Simpsons game. How would Electronic Arts use or not use motion control to make the title stand out?

hopefully it won’t be based on the movie. if it is there’d be less adventure.

Spencer Says:

Agreed. It doesn’t look like it will be since most of the listings have dates like November or later.

Veilknight Says:

Still pretty unlikely, but with the movie set for release and now a brand new installment coming up soon, this would be the perfect opportunity to port The Simpsons arcade game to XBLA. EA may now hold the license, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they should opt out of trying to work out a deal with Konami to bring the title over to Microsoft’s service.

If Ubisoft can do it to bring us TMNT: The Arcade Game, the least EA can do is give it a spin as well.

EA’s notorious for milking franchises for everything their worth; there’s no better way to further gain a profit from The Simpsons than by re-releasing the famed arcade title.

With Stewart Burns talking to IGN and expressing his pleasure when playing Wii, I don’t find it impossible to happen!

Nathan Anderson Says:

Just a know-nothing-about-playstations grandmother type here. I’m hearing a good bit about Wii - and I have two Simpson fans in the family. What kind of hardware is needed to play this? Do you have to buy the $250 unit first?
