16-Bit RPG Celestial Tear: Demon’s Revenge Comes Out November 19th

The 16-bit Japanese-style RPG Celestial Tear: Demon’s Revenge is coming out on Steam on November 19th. But, hang about – didn’t this come out before?

No, actually. The last time we heard about Celestial Tear: Demon’s Revenge it was slated to come out on August 25th. That never actually happened. The reasons for missing that date are outlined here, but in short, there were some parts of the game the development team wanted to spruce up still.

As this is an episodic game, only the first episode of Demon’s Revenge is due out on November 19th. It will let you play as Sen and Jagen, introducing you to their origin stories, as well as some other playable characters that have a small impact on the story. “You will be introduced to the combo system mechanics and will be able to unlock the first 4 skills, first 4 combo finishers and character traits,” add the developers. “You can use basic field skills to help you get items and explore your environment.”

But what is the story? Well, it all takes place on the planet Hasphal after humans colonized it and began hunting down its natives, Jehts, as they saw them as being disfigured and dangerous. You mostly follow Sen as she heads into this ancient conflict build on prejudice, discovering the history behind it, its ties to religion, and even mysterious parts of herself.

As to the combat in Demon’s Revenge, it’s a conditional turn-based system with a focus on combos, plus it also has environmental interactions for you to take advantage of. Find out more about Celestial Tear: Demon’s Revenge on its website.
