Sumo Digital Developing Outrun Online Arcade

image The OFLC rumor we discovered was right on the money. Sega is working on a new Outrun game and Sumo Digital, the studio that did Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast is behind it. Outrun Online Arcade will arrive as an Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network digital download early next year.

As the name of the game suggests, online play is a key part of Outrun Online Arcade. Up to six players can race online on one of fifteen Outrun courses. Test your skills with Outrun, Heart Attack, and Time Attack modes. Wait a minute… this sounds similar to Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast which doesn’t work online anymore. Is Sumo Digital tweaking the Xbox game and giving it a fresh coat of paint?

Well, if they are at least Outrun Online Arcade supports the latest hardware with features like trophies/achievements for digital collectors, and voice chat for mid-race trash talking.
