Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Games Getting Localized

Recommended Videos

Bishoujo game publisher MangaGamer have started work on translating the PC version of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (aka When the Cicadas Cry), and are targeting October as a release window.

We proudly announce that we have started the localization of ‘Higurashi when they cry’. We have been getting a lot of requests from MangaGamer’s fans to localize the title. We are very excited and happy to be able to release this best seller title from MangaGamer.com. We target to release the title by the end of October. Please stay close with our release schedule.

There are eight games in the Higurashi series in total. The first four are under the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni title, while the second half of the series is named Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai. MangaGamer plan to release the first half of the story in October, followed by the second half about two months later. All their titles are digitally distributed on their website.

Quick warning for anyone interested: while Higurashi is supposedly a great murder mystery, it’s also incredibly convoluted. We’ll probably find out more about the localized releases sometime this week after Otakon 2009, where MangaGamer have a booth from July 17-19.
