There’s already a Lord of Arcana demo on PlayStation Network. The PSP game actually comes with another trial version that players can install on a friend’s PSP.
The trial version of Lord of Arcana is particularly neat because it allows co-op play. So, you can slay monsters with a friend who doesn’t own the game. Trial version users cannot set up their own rooms, though. They can only play with people who own a copy of Lord of Arcana.
When away from friends, the trial version has a single player mode that covers the opening Lord of Arcana quests. There are limitations like the number of items you can carry, but players can save their game and even import data into a retail copy of Lord of Arcana if they buy it.
Square Enix even has a system to encourage game sharing. Complete a quest with someone using a trial version to earn a silver medallion. Clear a quest with someone who upgraded to the full game and you’ll get a gold medallion as a reward. You can get one medallion per converted player. These medallions can be given to a boy at Kariyo Port who will trade rare items for them.
