A demo of the battle system was shown and Dragon Quest X, like the other core games, has turn based combat. After a set amount of time, your character will be able to attack. Players can select skills from menus just like previous Dragon Quest titles. A battle shows four characters in a party, but it isn’t clear if this is the maximum.
On the field players can greet others with emotes. You can customize your character similar to Dragon Quest IX by selecting pieces of equipment. Chat bubbles appear over people’s heads when they talk.
You can customize characters by allocating skill points when you level up, which is based on Dragon Quest VIII.
Dragon Quest X: Waking of the Five Tribes also has a sewing system where players can create clothes.
