A war is brewing and you need to choose a side in Grand Knights History. This PSP game puts you in the shoes of a knight, archer or wizard and throws you onto a digital battlefield. The game launched in Japan on September 1 and climbed to the top of the sales charts in the region. "We were working on designing the game for two and half years," producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto said to Siliconera in an interview.
While ad-hoc McDonalds meet ups are quite popular in Japan, Grand Knights History is one of the few PSP games from 2011 with full blown online play via infrastucture mode. It’s a change of pace for developer Vanillaware and publisher Marvelous Entertainment too since both companies haven’t experimented much in the online space.
"Rather than thinking of it as something that we were just able to do, it’s been something we’ve been working hard on and we can finally show it to the world," Hashimoto explained.
Online, players will fight for one of three lands: Avalon, Logres or Union. "The reason why there are three factions is because of the online system. If you only have two sides, the only situation is one side wins against the other. With three, it’s more balanced and we can provide more interesting scenarios for players," Hashimoto elaborated.
