Take A Look At Rodea the Sky Soldier In Action And How To Fight Gigantic Bosses

With Rodea the Sky Soldier releasing in Japan this April, Kadokawa Games put together a video where we finally get to see the game in action, along with some fights against giant bosses.

The video titled “Rodea: The Movie Part 1” starts out with the beginning of the game’s story, where the heroine Ion first encounters Rodea, the humanoid robot, after he has been asleep for 1,000 years. You can read more about the story in our earlier report.

After showing a bit of some gameplay, the 0:45 mark of the video shows off some of the in-game action. The first bit shows how you can fly towards an area by facing the target and pressing the A button. In order to keep flying, you’ll need to keep your meter charged up by picking up “Graviton” that are found in the air or on the ground. You can also kick the floor as a way to recover yourself while in the air.

The B button is used as a boost action, which allows you to momentarily gain some speed. It can also be used to attack enemies; however, it consumes a lot more from the flying meter, so you’ll want to be careful not to use it too much when you’re low.

The Y button makes Rodea jump high into the sky, which helps for getting an idea of what’s ahead in the stage. It can also be used to start a stomping attack.

Next, the video moves onto its Giant Boss section at the 2:20 mark. These giant bosses can be found throughout various areas of the floating continent Garuda. In order to fight these, you’ll need to fly around and look for weak spots, then hit them with everything you got.

In the next video, we’ll see more from a desert area, along with a “Special Gear” system that evolves Rodea’s abilities, and a look at a mysterious giant boss that is found in the desert.

Rodea the Sky Soldier will release in Japan on April 2, 2015 for the Nintendo 3DS.
