We previously got a look at The Great Ace Attorney’s second case, where Ryunosuke Naruhodou meets Sherlock Holmes while on his way to London. Here’s a breakdown of how you’ll spend time investigating in the game.
In The Great Ace Attorney, Ryunosuke’s main battles will be in court, but he’ll also need to do his own detective work and conduct investigations, similar to past Ace Attorney games. The investigative portions will allow for four familiar options: Examine, Move, Talk, and Present.
Additionally, while investigating, you can team up with Sherlock Holmes for some “Joint Reasoning”. Since Holmes’s perception is on a whole other level of a genius, he might occasionally miss things that are right in front of his face, so Ryunosuke will need to do his part and point it out whenever that happens.
The first of the four investigative options is “Examine,” where you’ll go around different areas and use a cursor to check to see if there’s anything that stands out. Once you’ve examined a spot or object, it’ll be marked with a check mark. You can also speak to people while examining.
As always, the “Move” option will let you go from area to area. It’s what you’ll use once it seems like you’ve already explored an entire area.
The “Talk” option lets you question various people in the area. You’ll have the option to choose from various topics in order to find out more from the characters.
Finally, the “Present” option is similar to what we had in past games, where you bring out evidence from your Court Record. By presenting various items, you’ll acquire new information from the characters that might share more than they usually would without any triggering items.
The Great Ace Attorney is slated for release in Japan on July 9, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.
