New screenshots have been released online for the Dragon Quest VIII epilogue new to the 3DS port of the game. In the additional adventure, players will be able to learn an important secret about the hero they’ve been controlling for the entire journey.
The Dragon Quest VIII screenshots show an additional town, new dungeon, a group of four monsters that can transform into a single, larger foe with the former creatures as components, and a boss battle against a Dragon King voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda. You may remember Tsuda from his roles as Kazama in Hakuoki, Maxi in the Japanese version of Soul Calibur IV, and Saionji in Mind Zero.
The additional epilogue is one of many new features being added to the 3DS version of the game. Morrie and Red will be playable, monster encounters aren’t random, it is fully voiced, snapshots can be taken during play and used for Photo Quests, new dungeons were added, and there will be new story segments like an extra ending.
Dragon Quest VIII will be released on the 3DS in Japan on August 17. A worldwide release has not been announced.
