Now that Pokémon Go has launched in Australia, New Zealand, and some other regions, a number of problems have popped up. Most notable is a battery issue. Niantic has confirmed Pokémon Go could cause unexpected battery drain on Android and Apple iOS devices.
The “heavy battery use” comes from playing the game for what Niantic describes as “prolonged periods of time.” It is aware of the problem and is working on a solution. In the meantime, heading into Pokémon Go’s settings and turning on the Battery Saver may help.
Niantic also notes that some people may experience audio issues with Pokémon Go. This is due to a Bluetooth audio problem and may make the game sound distorted. Niantic is working on a fix for this problem as well. Those affected by this annoyance should play with the sound off until it is patched.
Pokémon Go is immediately available in Australia and New Zealand for Android and Apple iOS devices. It will launch in other regions this month.
