Ultros And His Tentacles Appear To Creep Into World Of Final Fantasy

Recommended Videos

World of Final Fantasy promises to bring decades of Final Fantasy monsters and characters together in chibi form for a new kind of Final Fantasy experience. As testament to that end, Ultros is seemingly making an appearance in the game.

Series veterans may recall the octopus-like monster from Final Fantasy VI Advance and his crass, comedic comments about tasty morsels and who he’d like to wrap his tentacles around. Taking a look at the ESRB’s description of the E10+ rating, one of Ultro’s infamous lines will be heard at some point during Lann and Reyne’s adventure. Check it out along with a few other interesting details in the rating summary quoted below.

This is a role-playing game in which players help a set of twins recover their lost memory. As players explore a magical world, they can collect and raise fantasy creatures called Mirages to help traverse environments and battle enemy creatures (e.g., goblins, golems) in turn-based combat. Players use weapon attacks and magical abilities (e.g., drain, fire, poison) to defeat enemies; battles are accompanied by impact sounds and mild explosions. A handful of sequences also depict additional acts of violence: a vampire stabbed (off-screen) in the chest with a stake; characters turned to dust in a fiery blast. The game contains some suggestive material: female character in outfits that reveal moderate amounts of cleavage; dialogue that states, “On the one hand, he must flirt with all the ladies” and “Oh, this one’s a tasty morsel! I’d love to get my tentacles around her . . .” The game includes a brief reference to alcohol in a character description: “A consummate connoisseur, it pairs fine wines with the brains it devours.” The word “hell” appears in the dialogue.

In World of Final Fantasy, players can capture the magical beasts they encounter, and raise them to unlock additional abilities and forms. Classic creatures confirmed to make an appearance include Behemoth, Cactuar, Ifrit, Ramuh, Shiva, and Tonberry.

World of Final Fantasy releases worldwide for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on October 25, 2016.
