Square Enix updated the official website of Dragon Quest XI with some new info on how the story starts out as well as a closer look at the two recently introduced characters in Veronica and Senya.
The protagonist sets foot on an adventure into the vast world as a reincarnation of the legendary “hero.”
He grew up in the quiet village of Ishi and was required per tradition to take on a coming-of-age ceremony after turning 16. He realizes that he has a big mission on his shoulders as the reincarnation of a “hero” that once saved the world. He leaves the village on a journey to find out what the hero is and about the hero’s mission.
From here, the protagonist makes his way to the biggest country of the continent, called Delkadal in order to meet the king.
According to the protagonist’s mother, everything will become clear after heading over to Delkadal, so that’s where he heads to first. After claiming to be the hero, the king of Delkadal tells him everything about what is a “hero.”
… however, what the king of Delkadal said next was the unthinkable—that the hero is a demon’s child. Following the king’s word, the soldiers then pointed their weapons at the protagonist. What is going on? The story of the legendary “hero” starts early on. Exactly what will happen to the protagonist?

Dragon Quest XI releases in 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS. The game is also in development for Nintendo Switch.
