Final Fantasy XIV gets its Patch 3.56 update today and with it comes a few changes to the MMORPG’s free trials that will allow new players to check out the game without a 14-day limit.
Previously, those who wish to try out Final Fantasy XIV’s free trial were able to do so for a 14-day limit, as well as a 90-day limit for transferring characters to the full version of the game.
The update makes it so that players will be able to play for more than the original 14-day limit, and they’ll get to transfer character data to the full version of the game at any time, but keep in mind that the transfer part only applies to characters created after the release of Patch 3.56.
That said, it doesn’t mean Final Fantasy XIV is going to be free-to-play, as there are still various limitations for free trial players, such as social limit that doesn’t allow for “shout,” “yell,” or “tell” for free trial players. You also can’t trade, send letters, create or join Free Companies, make more than 300,000 Gil , or go over level 35 as a free trial player.
Final Fantasy XIV’s free trial is available on PlayStation 4 and PC.
