It’s been a good decade since the original launch of the PlayStation 3 back in November 2006, but Sony’s last-generation console has now officially ended its production in Japan. Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed in March that they will discontinue the production of the PlayStation 3 console sometime in the near future, and today the official PlayStation website has marked the PS3’s latest model CECH-4300, as “shipment complete,” meaning they won’t be making or shipping out the console anymore. The PlayStation 3 launched in Japan on November 11 and North America on November 17, 2006. It came out a few months later in Europe on March 23, 2007. The console sold 80 million in worldwide shipments, last we heard.
