Sushi Striker Coming To The Nintendo 3DS

Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido was announced today for the Nintendo 3DS during the Nintendo Treehouse live stream. In this new puzzle-action game from indieszero, players must eat sushi off of plates as fast as they can, chucking plates at their opponent as they do. As you may recall, indieszero was responsible for NES Remix. Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido will have a single player campaign and two player multiplayer mode.

In Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido, a young man or woman leaves their village. When hunger strikes, a mysterious and legendary master appears and feeds them sushi for the first time. This meeting is interrupted, but not before the apprentice develops a taste for sushi and gets a sample of the master’s power. They then go on to become the greatest Sushi Striker.

In each Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido level, characters face off against a fellow Sushi Striker. There are six conveyor belts on the screen. Your opponent and three belts are on the top, one golden belt at the top of the bottom screen that is shared between you and your enemy, and three conveyor belts that are yours. You want to match colored plates, selecting as many at once. They are then added to one of five stacks in front of your character. The more plates in a stack, the more damage they do. If you make a sixth stack, that will be automatically thrown at the enemy once you finish adding to it. The more plates in a stack, the more damage you do. Desserts may also appear and can be grabbed to restore health.

Sushi Strikers can also have companions. These are characters you can equip before a match and trigger during a battle for a special buff or debuff. Three can be equipped at a time, and each has a favorite kind of sushi. When you chain that type, they power up. One companion shown could speed up the conveyor belts when triggered. Another made all of the plates on the bottom screen change to the same color. In addition to the three active companions equipped, two others can be put on standby. These will gain experience, but not participate in a battle.

Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido will come to the Nintendo 3DS in 2018.
