During the most recent Live Letter from the Producer, it was revealed that Final Fantasy XIV’s Patch 4.1 will be launching on October 10th. First off, we get a glimpse at some highlights from the new story quests, followed by a look at the game’s new dungeon, the Drowned City of Skalla. After that, the trailer shows off the new PvP mode coming to the game, Rival Wings. This new mode, however, will not release until a little later, in Patch 4.15.

Patch 4.1 will also bring the new residential district, Shirogane. Changes will also be made to the treasure map dungeon, the Lost Canals of Uznair. New maps will be added that will lead to deeper parts of the canals, which will also feature rarer treasures and tougher enemies guarding the said treasure.

Two weeks after the release of 4.1 will be 4.11, which will tentatively add a new raid difficulty tier to the MMO in the form of The Unending Coil of Bahamut (Ultimate). To challenge the new trial, players will first have to be item level 340 and have completed Omega: Deltascape (Savage) v4.0. For completing the battle, all players will receive a token which can be exchanged for a weapon of their choice. These weapons’ item levels and sub attributes will be the same as the Genji weapons.

Lastly, Patch 4.1 will see the beginning of the next 24-person alliance raid in the form of Return to Ivalice which, as you could see in the official trailer, features enemies from Final Fantasy XII and music from Final Fantasy Tactics. More references to both games are guaranteed to appear over the course of the raid series.

For more info on the patch, you can check out the translation of the Live Letter over on the official forums.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for PC and PlayStation 4, and its Patch 4.1 will release on October 10th, 2017.
