FromSoftware’s Déraciné Is A Time-Shifting Adventure

New details about Déraciné, FromSoftware and Japan Studios’ PlayStation VR game, have been released by the PlayStation Blog. With this game, the developers’ goal was to try and make an adventure that would have the same sort of feeling as a visual novel as people piece together stories by looking at moments in time.

The player is a faerie summoned to a boarding school being attended by six children. As you float around the world, which is frozen in time, you will see different events and segments in their lives. This allows you to learn about the characters and impact their lives. Especially since, sometimes, time will change to show either the present or the past.

A message from Hidetaka Miyazaki, FromSoftware’s President and Director of  Déraciné, was also shared.

“This title got its start when I asked myself whether I could recreate the classic adventure game with its relaxed pace in virtual reality, giving users an entirely unique experience. SIE was interested, and I am very grateful to have them as a partner as we develop this game together.

The result is that the concept behind the title has changed little since those initial thoughts, and Déraciné has a warm, peculiar feel to it that is completely different from anything we have done before. I’d love for as many users as possible to give it a try.”

Déraciné will come to the PlayStation VR in 2018.
