Valve Is Retiring The Steam Video Section And Some Non-Gaming Videos

Recommended Videos

The number of non-game media available on Steam is about to decrease. Valve has announced that it will be retiring the Steam Video section. This means if you go to the main page, you can’t immediately see the Video Section. However, browsing for videos while searching will still bring up all the media available to purchase through the distributor.

This will also eventually change. Valve noted that “a number of non-gaming videos will be retired and will no longer be available for purchase.” There is no official list available yet that goes over which videos will stay or go. However, a number of anime series not connected to games are available through the store. The Ancient Magus’ Bride, Toradora!, No Game, No Life, Food Wars, and Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid are among some of the titles available. However, under this suggested ruling, it could mean that shows that are connected to games on Steam, like Chaos;Child, The King of Fighters: Destiny, and Sword Art Online: The Movie – Ordinal Scale may get to stay.

Those who purchased videos in the past or purchase them before they are retired will have continued access to them through Steam. They will just become unavailable to purchase for new owners.
