Final Fantasy Grandmasters’ Adventure Comes To An End With An April 25 Service Termination

Square Enix launched Final Fantasy Grandmasters as a Final Fantasy XI spinoff on smartphones back in October 2015, but its adventure is coming to an end with its service shutting down on April 25, 2019.

Final Fantasy Grandmasters started out as a project that allowed fans to further explore the world of Vana’diel from Final Fantasy XI, together with friends in a lighthearted and mobile fashion.

The game was developed by Crooz and made to have several elements from Square Enix’s first MMORPG title, including jobs, areas, monsters, magic, abilities, and all kinds of equipment to collect.

After further discussion from within, Square Enix deemed it would be too difficult to continue providing a satisfactory experience so it was decided that the game would end its service on April 25, 2019. Micro-transaction currency gems have already stopped sales, but fans can expect some more content that heads to the game’s ending, which will be added through March 2019.

Final Fantasy Grandmasters is available in Japan for iOS and Android. A Final Fantasy XI mobile reboot was also announced at the same time Grandmasters was back in 2015, but the last time we saw anything on the game was some screenshots with an updated look in May 2018.
