EVO 2019 Lineup Has Smash Ultimate, UNIST, Samurai Shodown, SoulCalibur VI, And No Melee

The lineup of EVO 2019 main stage games was revealed and this year’s big event features multiple new newcomer titles including Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, SoulCalibur VI, Samurai Shodown, and more.

The nine main stage games are the following:

  • Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition
  • Dragon Ball FighterZ
  • Tekken 7
  • BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle
  • Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st]
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  • SoulCalibur VI
  • Mortal Kombat 11
  • Samurai Shodown

It’s worth noting that Super Smash Bros. Melee will not be included as part of the main stage game, ending its streak of annual appearances since EVO 2013 when it was added as part of a fan-funded donation drive.

Other new titles include Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] which has been picking up recently in communities around the world. It should make for a change of pace without a Guilty Gear title in the mix this year. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate makes sense now that Smash Bros. for Wii U and Smash Bros. Melee retired.

SoulCalibur VI was available as a side event at last year’s EVO, but this year it’ll be one of the nine main stage games alongside Mortal Kombat 11. Lastly, Samurai Shodown which is expected to release in “Early Summer 2019” was revealed as the last new game to join the mix.

Tournament organizer Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar and biz dev Mark “MarkMan” Julio have also pledged that side events will get even more spotlight at EVO 2019, so if your favorite game isn’t on the main stage there’s a chance you might see more on the side.

EVO 2019 runs from August 2 to August 4, 2019.
