After years of waiting, we finally got a new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake during the PlayStation State of Play broadcast yesterday.
Here’s a closer look at some of the changes and improvements in a comparison video by Cycu1. It shows the latest trailer’s graphics and character models compared to the previous trailer that was unveiled at the 2015 PlayStation Experience.
Tetsuya Nomura announced during the Final Fantasy 30th anniversary exhibition in February 2018 that Cloud’s design for the remake has been changed to look closer to his original design, and those who attended the art exhibit got an exclusive look, but this is the first time it’s been revealed for the rest of the world to see.

Cloud Strife looking less like a White Walker version of himself and more like the well-fed ex-SOLDIER who gets plenty of sunlight and enough meat on his bones to swing around his Buster Sword. He also stepped up his hairdressing game.
Barret Wallace certainly saw some improvements, more notably in his facial hair and the chest hair he’s rocking. I’m mostly glad to see that he found his one earring which was missing in his initial reveal. Let’s hope they also find Tifa for the next trailer while they’re at it.
We didn’t see much of Biggs and Jesse in the previous trailer, but this time we got to see a bit more of the AVALANCHE members; however, our boy Wedge was noticeably missing in the new trailer so we hope to see him soon as well.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is in development for PlayStation 4. The game is still planned to be released in multiple parts. You can check out the latest trailer and messages from key staff in our previous report.
