WayForward has released new details about River City Girls, the River City and Kunio-Kun series follow-up headed to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. On September 5, 2019, it will be released for $29.99. Physical Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 copies will be handled by Limited Run Games.

In River City Girls, players follow Kyoko and Misako. Their boyfriends Kunio and Riki have been kidnapped, and it is up to them to go through River City’s six regions beating up anyone in their path as they head out to reunite with their lost loves. There will be RPG elements, as they can level up, shop, get equipment, and have some food. It will also be able to recruit fallen foes to continue in your fight.

River City Girls will be a cooperative beat’em up, just like the mainstay Kunio-Kun games. The heroines will have different combos and special attacks available to them. People can go through the game alone, or partner up so both young women can work together to save the day.

Here is the River City Girls teaser trailer, which shows off the game’s theme song and offers a look at both Kyoko and Misato.
