Infinite Loop announced that 2B from NieR: Automata is the next crossover character to come to its virtual pet/companion program Desktop Mate as DLC. She will show up on October 9, 2025. A price wasn’t mentioned, but all past add-ons for the application cost $14.99 each.

Details about what to expect from the 2B DLC are available. She will wear her trademark dress, but it will be possible to “perform an action” that offers her alternate look. (This is likely the appearance without the skirt.) Screenshots showed her with and without her eyes covered too. English and Japanese voiced lines will be available as language options, and Kira Buckland and Yui Ishikawa are confirmed to be the performers again. Kaori Kawabuchi also took part as her motion capture actress again. The announcement also noted that, while 2B is the focus, her Pod 042 assistant will also show up.

Here are the first screenshots. There’s no initial trailer for her yet.

While Desktop Mate comes with Aierutan, we’ve seen a number of crossover characters show up in the app as DLC. The first was Hatsune Miku, and Snow Miku and Magical Mirai 2025 versions followed. Other Vocaloids like Megurine Luka and Kasane Teto showed up too. Mahjong Soul’s Chibi Ichihime is already available as well. Later in 2025, we’ll see the Needy Streamer Overload character OMGKawaiiAngel and Touhou Project’s Reimu Hakurei and Marisa Kirisame.

Desktop Mate is available for PCs, and the NieR: Automata 2B DLC will debut on October 9, 2025. NieR: Automata is available on the PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Windows PC, and the anime adaptation of that game is streaming via Crunchyroll
