Sanrio and Sunblink announced a new update for Hello Kitty Island Adventure called Welcome Home that will bring the game to 3.0 and add an array of free content. All of the items will be geared toward customization. Some of the things are requested additions. Most notable is a player home in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, the ability to build homes for Sanrio characters who previously appeared as NPCs, and the appearance of Marroncream as a new permanent resident. There will also be a Friend Pass option on PCs to encourage co-op play with people who don’t own the life sim. A $59.99 Switch 2 Friendship Bundle also debuts on October 15, 2026 in most regions.
Like My Sweet Piano, Marroncream joins Hello Kitty Island Adventure as an NPC designed to assist with customization and decoration for the new player and Sanrio character homes. She is tied to updating and decorating via things like new Floorplans to add more rooms for those types of houses. Cabin Layouts let you save designs you’ve arranged, and Creative Mode Room lets you set specific room layouts. Once built, homes will also have mailboxes that can have items and allow you to start auto-gifting to build relationships faster without having to track characters down each day.

There is also a returning event back in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. The Thanksgiving and fall-coded Days of Plenty started on October 8, 2026 as well. That’s been running since 2024, and typically involves collecting special currency to trade for new and returning clothing and furniture. While the 2024 event featured Pompompurin in a major role and Keroppi starred in the 2025 storyline, the 2026 one has My Melody, My Sweet Piano, and Little Twin Star Lala as the main characters.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure and its Welcome Home 3.0 update are available on the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, PC, and Apple iOS devices via Apple Arcade. The Switch 2 Friendship Bundle will appear in North America, Europe, and Australia on October 15, 2026, and November 20, 2026 in Japan.
