Newbie video game studio Brash Entertainment managed to snag US$400 million in funding from a series of equity investors. Brash Entertainment opened their doors in March and it was presumed they would obtain around $150 million in start up capital. Their funds exceed two times the initial estimate and maybe it is due to Brash Entertainment’s philosophy. While most publishers are striving to create intellectual properties they own, Brash Entertainment wants to create games based of licensed properties like Hollywood movies.
By bringing together Hollywood’s brightest creative talent and the game industry’s most innovative independent game development studios, our experienced production team will realize the full potential of today’s most popular films and television shows.
They already grabbed the license to the Saw movies, other properties have yet to be announced. There are only so many licensed properties out in the wild and with Brash Entertainment stepping in there is going to be even more competition to get a movie license. Will Brash Entertainment buck the trend and make decent games based off of movies? Warner Brothers Entertainment who is distributing the games and $400 million dollars thinks so.
