Editor’s Note: The Bleach Rebirth of Souls Retsu Unohana DLC trailer features major spoilers for the character.

For the opening part of the Retsu Unohana trailer, she behaves and looks like we expected from the outset of series. However, at about the 33 second mark, there’s footage showing her other form. After a certain point in the series, we learn she wasn’t always the captain of the Fourth Division. Prior to that, she served as the captain of the Eleventh, which is currently run by Kenpachi Zaraki. This form also changes her hairstyle and involves her carrying her Zanpakuto Minazuki. To go along with this, the gameplay clip during that segment features her facing Zaraki.

Here is the full video showing off the next new character:

This Gotei 13 captain is the second piece of Bleach Rebirth of Souls DLC, and one of two that features spoilers for the manga and anime series. The first was another version of Ichigo Kurosaki. That debuted in June 2025. It was based on his Thousand Year Blood War Arc appearance and abilities.

Bleach Rebirth of Souls is on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the full launch of Retsu Unohana happens on August 25, 2025. She’s available for season pass holders now. The Bleach anime, including Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, are streaming on on Disney+ and HuluViz Media handles the manga series outside of Japan.
