At gamescom 2025, HoYoVerse shared a new Genshin Impact trailer highlighting the upcoming character Kyryll Chudomirovich Flins, and it also seemed to suggest he might use both the Hydro and Electro elements in combat. This is our first time seeing him in action, as his July 2025 reveal and following announcements only involved pieces of official art.
The gamescom 2025 Genshin Impact trailer shows Aether, the male version of our avatar options, wandering through a Nod-Krai graveyard along a beach. A number of enemies featuring headless characters and a more hulking opponent approach him. It’s then that a blue light attacks some of those foes. We then see Flins appear, holding up his lantern. When he first attacks the foes with his polearm, he’s using blue light energy, presumably dealing Hydro damage. However, we see the icons for Hydro and Electro appear. Flins then deals electric enemy. The footage ends with him warning Aether about the area and escorting him to safety.

We already know when Flins will become a playable character in Genshin Impact, as HoYoverse confirmed he is one of the initial 6.0 folks. He’ll be playable alongside Aino, the creator of Ineffa, and Lauma. Ineffa was the sole 5.8 newcomer.
Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and mobile devices, and the 5.8 update arrives on July 30, 2025.
